³⁶ »O Jehovah you protect me and save me. Your help has made me grow great (multiply).

¹ Brothers, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set him right. But you must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted, too.

¹ A mild answer turns away anger. Harsh words stir up anger.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable (yielding), full of mercy and good fruits, without discord (partiality), without hypocrisy.

³⁵ You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me. Your gentleness (humility) (meekness) makes me great.

²⁴ The Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind (gentle) to all, able to teach, and patient when wronged. ²⁵ He should instruct those who oppose using meekness. Perhaps God will give them repentance that they may know the truth. ²⁶ They should come to their senses out of the snare of the Devil. He has taken them captive and they do his will.

¹⁵ Sanctify the Christ as Lord (kurios: master) in your hearts. Always be ready to answer every man who asks you a reason for your hope, yet with meekness (mildness) and respect!
