¹² »Wickedness and lawlessness will increase. The love of many will grow cold.

¹³ »Those on the rock are those who receive the word with joy. These have no root. They believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine. Having their ears tickled, they will accumulate teachers who follow after their own lusts.

¹² Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you develop a wicked heart lacking faith and turning away (departing) from the living God.

¹ The Spirit explicitly says that some will fall away from the faith (truth) in later times. Spirits and doctrines of demons will seduce them, ² through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron. ³ They will forbid marrying, [and command] to abstain from food, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

¹⁷ You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, avoid being carried away with the error of the wicked and falling from your own steadfastness.

¹³ All people, young and old, male and female, who refused to dedicate their lives to the true God Jehovah the God of Israel were to be killed.

¹⁰ »Many will stumble and betray and hate one another.

⁸ If we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any message other than that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (condemned) (expelled). ⁹ We said before and now I say again, if any man preaches to you any message other than what you received, let him be accursed!

¹ Know this also that in the last days perilous (dangerous) times will come. ² For men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous (lovers of money), arrogant, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful (ungrateful), unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, despisers of those who are good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; ⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying its power. Stay away from people like this! ⁶ Among them are those who creep into houses and lead captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away with various lusts. ⁷ They are constantly learning, and never able to grasp the knowledge of the truth. ⁸ And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, rejected concerning the faith, ⁹ they will make no progress; for their foolishness will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be.

³ Do not let anyone deceive you about this in any way. That day will not come unless apostasy (a falling away from truth) takes place first, and the man of lawlessness (sin), the man of destruction, is revealed. (2 Timothy 4:3)

²⁶ If we continue to (practice) (deliberately persist in) sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins. ²⁷ But there remains a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fiery indignation, which will devour God’s enemies. ²⁸ He that despised Moses’ Law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. ²⁹ What about those who despise the Son of God? Those who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God’s covenant that purified them from sin? Those who insult the Spirit of grace? Think how much worse the punishment they deserve will be!

⁶ »If your brother, your mother's son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your very best friend tries to secretly entice you, saying: ‘Let us go and serve other gods, gods neither you nor your fathers have known, ⁷ »‘the gods of the people who are around you from one end of the earth to the other end.’ ⁸ »Do not yield to him or listen to him. Your eye should not have pity on him. You should not spare or conceal him. ⁹ »You must kill him! ⁴ Those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the age to come, ⁶ if they shall fall away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance. This is because they personally impale the Son of God again, and expose him to public shame. ⁷ The earth that drinks in the rain that comes upon it, and brings forth vegetation for those by whom it was cultivated, receives blessing from God. ⁸ That which bears thorns and briars is rejected, and is near to being cursed. It ends up being burned.

²⁰ After they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled and overcome; the last state is worse with them than the first. ²¹ For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² It happened to them according to the true proverb: »The dog returns to his own vomit, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.«
