²² Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who do the truth are his delight.

⁹ He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.

¹² Therefore whatever you desire for people to do to you, so also you should do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

¹ "Do not judge, so that you won't be judged. ² For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. ³ And why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ⁴ Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and look, the log is in your own eye? ⁵ You hypocrite. First remove the log out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

⁸ Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, would not light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?

³² If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. ³³ If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. ³⁴ If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. ³⁶ Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful. ³⁷ Do not judge, and you won't be judged. Do not condemn, and you won't be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. ³⁸ "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you." ³⁹ He spoke a parable to them. "Can the blind guide the blind? Won't they both fall into a pit? ⁴⁰ A disciple is not above the teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. ⁴¹ And why do you see the speck of chaff that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ⁴² Or how can you tell your brother, 'Brother, let me remove the speck of chaff that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite. First remove the log from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck of chaff that is in your brother's eye.

²⁵ Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your wrongdoing.

⁷ Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a person sows, that he will also reap. ⁸ For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap everlasting life.

⁵ Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you."

¹⁹ This you know, my beloved brothers. But let every person be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; ²⁰ for human anger does not produce the righteousness of God.

¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? ¹⁵ And if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you did not give them the things the body needs, what good is it? ¹⁷ Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. ¹⁸ But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith. ¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder. ²⁰ But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? ²¹ Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; ²³ and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

¹⁸ Pray for us, for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things.

³⁵ In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

³¹ And as you would like people to do to you, you also do the same to them.

¹ Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.

²² But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his natural face in a mirror; ²⁴ for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. ²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does. ²⁶ If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not control his tongue, but deceives his heart, this one's religion is worthless. ²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

²⁴ "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Mammon.
