Bible verses about "fool" | NHEB

Psalms 14:1

1 [For the Chief Musician. By David.] The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They do abominable works. There is none who does good.

Proverbs 26:3-12

3 A whip is for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools. 4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him. 5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. 6 One who sends a message by the hand of a fool is cutting off feet and drinking violence. 7 Like the legs of the lame that hang loose: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 8 As one who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool. 9 Like a thornbush that goes into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 10 As an archer who wounds all, so is he who hires a fool or he who hires those who pass by. 11 As a dog that returns to his vomit, so is a fool who repeats his folly. 12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Proverbs 18:7

7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

Proverbs 10:23

23 It is a fool's pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding's pleasure.

Proverbs 14:7-9

7 Stay away from a foolish man, for you won't find knowledge on his lips. 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit. 9 Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.

Proverbs 17:28

28 Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is counted wise. When he shuts his lips, he is thought to be discerning.

Proverbs 14:16

16 A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but the fool is arrogant and reckless.

Titus 3:1-11

1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing courtesy to all people. 3 For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; 7 that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of everlasting life. 8 This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable for people; 9 but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 10 Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning; 11 knowing that such a one is perverted, and sins, being self-condemned.

Proverbs 28:26

26 One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

Matthew 5:22

22 But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be liable to judgment; and whoever will say to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be in danger of the council; and whoever will say, 'You fool,' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Proverbs 18:6

6 A fool's lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings.

Proverbs 29:9

9 If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.

Proverbs 26:19

19 is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, "Am I not joking?"

Proverbs 29:11

11 A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.

Proverbs 1:7

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 18:2

2 A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.
