Genesis 6:1-22

1 And it came to passe, whan men began to multyply vpon the erth, & had begat them daughters, 2 that sonnes of god saw the daughters of men that they were fayre, and toke vnto them wyues, which they best lyked among them all. 3 And the Lorde sayde: My spirite shall not alway striue wyth man, for they are flesh. Neuerthelesse I wyl geue them yet space, an .C. & .xx. yeres. 4 There were tyrantes in the world in those dayes. For after that the chyldren of god had gone in, vnto the daughters of men, & had begotten them chyldren, the same chyldren were the mightiest of the world, & men of renowne. 5 And whan the Lord saw that the wekednesse of man was encreased vpon the erth, & that al the ymaginacion & thoughtes of his hert was only euell contynually, 6 he repented that he had made man vpon the erth, and sorowed in his hert. 7 And sayd: I wyl destroy mankynde whych I haue made, from of the face of the erth: both man, beast, worme and foule of the ayre, for it repenteth me that I haue made them. 8 But yet Noe founde grace in the syght of the Lord. 9 These are the generacions of Noe. Noe was a ryghteous man & vncorrupte in hys tyme, & walked wt God. 10 And Noe begat .iij. sonnes: Sem, Ham, & Iapheth. 11 And the erth was corrupt in the syght of God, & was full of mischefe. 12 And God loked vpon the erth, & lo it was corrupte: for all flesh had corrupte hys way vpon the erth. 13 Than sayde God to Noe: the ende of all flesh is come before me, for the erth is full of their myschefe. And lo, I wyl destroye them with the erth. 14 Make the an arcke of pyne tree, and make chaumbers in the arcke, and pitch it wythin & without wyth pytch. 15 And of this facyon shalt thou make it. The length of the arcke shall be .iij. hundred cubytes, & the bredth of it .l. cubytes, & the hyeth of it .xxx. cubytes. 16 A wyndow shalt thou make aboue in the arcke. And within a cubyte compasse shalt thou fynysh it. And the dore of the arcke shalt thou sette in the syde of it: & thou shalt make it with .iij. loftes one aboue another. 17 For behold, I wyll bryng in a floud of water vpon the erth to destroye al flesh from vnder heauen, wherin breth of lyf is: so that all that is in the erth shal perysh. 18 But I wyl make myne apoyntement wt the, that both thou shalt come into the arcke and thy sonnes, thy wyfe & thy sonnes wyues wt the. 19 And of all that lyueth what so euer flesh it be, shalt thou brynge into the arcke, of euery thyng a payre, to kepe them a lyue wyth the. And male & female se that they be, 20 of byrdes in their kynde, & of beastes in theyr kynde, & of all maner of wormes of the erth in theyr kynde: a payre of euery thynge shal come vnto the to kepe them a lyue. 21 And take vnto the of all maner of meate that may be eaten and laye it vp in stoore by the, that it maye be meate bothe for the and for them: 22 and Noe dyd acordyng to all that God commaunded him.

Genesis 10:8-12

8 Thus also begat Nemrod which began to be myghty in the earth. 9 He was a myghty hunter in the syghte of the Lorde: Wherof came the prouerbe: he is as Nemrod that myghty hunter in the syght of the Lord. 10 And the begynnyng of hys kyngdome was Babell, Erech, Achad, & Chalne in the lande of Synear: 11 Oute of that land came Assur, & builded Niniue, & the citye Rehoboth, & Calah, 12 and Ressen betwene Niniue & Calah. That is a greate cytye.

Jeremiah 50:1-46

1 The wordes that the Lord spake vnto the Prophet Ieremy, concerninge Babylon, & the lande of the Caldees: 2 preache amonge the Gentiles, let youre voyce be hearde, make a token: crye oute, kepe no sylence but saye: Babylon shall be wonne, Bel shalbe confounded, & Merodach shalbe ouercome. Yea their Goddes shalbe brought to shame, and theyr ymages shall stande in feare. 3 For oute of the northe there shall come a people against her, whiche shal make her lande so wast, that no body shall dwell therin: neyther man nor beast, for they shall flye and departe from thence. 4 In those dayes & at that time sayeth the Lorde, the children of Israell shall come, they and the children of Iuda, wepyng & makinge haste, and shall seke the Lord their God. 5 They shall aske the waye to Sion, thyther shall they turne theyr faces, & come and hange vpon the, in a couenaunte that neuer shall be broken. 6 My people hath bene a lost flocke, my shepherdes haue disceyued them, and haue made them go astraye vpon the hylles. They haue gone from the mountayne to the litle hyl, and forgotten their folde. 7 All they that came vpon them, haue deuoured them: & theyr enemyes sayde: We haue made no faute agaynst them for they haue displeased the Lorde, yea euen the Lorde whiche is the bewtie of theyr ryghtuousnes, & that defended theyr fathers. 8 Yet shall ye fle from Babilon, & depart out of the lande of the Caldees, and ye shall be as the rammes that go before the flocke. 9 For lo, I wyll wake vp an hoost of people from the northren lande, and brynge them vpon Babylon: these shall laye sege to it, and winne it: Theyr arowes shall not mysse, like as a connyng archer shuteth not wronge. 10 And the Caldees shalbe spoyled, and all they that spoyle them, shalbe satisfyed, sayeth the Lorde: 11 because ye were so chearfull and glad, to treade doune myne heritage, and fulfylled youre pleasures, as the calues in the grasse: and triumphed ouer them lyke the bulles, when ye had gotten the victory. 12 Youre mothers shalbe sore confounded, and they that bare you, shall come to shame. She shall be the leaste set by amonge the nacions, voyde, waste, and dryed vp. 13 No man shall be able to dwell there, for the feare of the Lorde, but she shall be whole desolate. All they that go by Babylon, shall stande styll, & be abashed, and shall wondre at all her plages. 14 Go forth in your araye againste Babylon rounde aboute, all ye that can handle bowes: shute at her, spare no arowes, for she hath synned agaynst the Lorde. 15 Crye oute: vpon her, vpon her, agaynste her round about: she shall yelde her selfe, her foundacyons shal fall, and her walles shall come doune, for it shalbe the vengeaunce of the Lorde. Yea vengeaunce shalbe taken of her, and as she hath done, so shall she be dealte with al. 16 They shal rote out the sower from Babylon, & hym that handleth the syckle in haruest. For feare of the swearde of the enemye, euery man shal get hym to his owne people, and euery man shall flye to hys owne lande. 17 Israel is a scatred flocke, the Lyons haue dispersed them. Fyrste the kynge of the Assyryans deuoured them, last of all thys Nabuchodonosor Kyng of Babylon hath brosed all theyr bones. 18 Therfore thus saith the Lorde of hostes the God of Israell: Beholde, I wyll vyset the Kynge of Babylon and hys kyngdome, as I haue vysited the kynge of the Assyryans: 19 and wil bringe Israel agayne to hys pleasaunte pasture, that he maye fede vpon Charmel and Basan, and be satisfyed vpon the mounte of Ephraim & Galaad. 20 In those dayes & at the same tyme (sayeth the Lorde) yf the offence of Israel be soughte for, there shal none be found: Yf men enquere for the sinne of Iuda, there shalbe none: for I wyll be mercyfull vnto them whome I suffre to remayne ouer. 21 Go doune (O thou auenger) into the enemyes lande, and vyset them that dwel therin: doune with them, and smyte them vpon the backes, sayeth the Lorde: do accordyng to all, that I haue commaunded the. 22 There is gone aboute the lande a crye of a slaughter & great murther, namelye on thys maner: 23 How happeneth it, that the hammer of the whole world is thus broken and brosed in sonder? Howe chaunceth it, that Babylon is become a wyldernes amonge the Heathen on this maner? 24 I my selfe haue layed wayte for the, and thou arte taken: vnawarres arte thou trapped and snared: for why, thou haste prouoked the Lorde vnto anger: 25 The Lorde hath opened his house of ordynaunce, and broughte forthe the weapens of his wrath. For the thing that is done in the lande of the Caldees, it is the Lorde of hostes worcke. 26 These thinges shal come vpon her at the last, they shal breake into her preuye chambres, they shall leaue her as bare as stones, that be layed together vpon heapes. They shal so destroye her, that nothynge shall be lefte. 27 They shall slaye all their mightye soudyars, and put them to death. Wo be vnto them, for the daye & tyme of their visitacion is at hande. 28 Me thinke I heare all readye a crye, of them that be fled & escaped oute of the lande of Babylon, which shewe in Syon the vengeaunce of the Lorde oure God the vengeaunce of his temple, yea a voyce of them, that crye against Babylon: 29 Call vp all the archers agaynste Babylon, pytche youre tentes rounde aboute her, that none escape. Recompence her, as she hath deserued: and accordinge as she hath done, so deale wyth her agayne: for she hath set vp her selfe agaynste the Lorde, agaynste the holy one of Israel. 30 Therfore shall her yonge men fal doune in the stretes, and all her men of warre shalbe roted oute in that daye, saith the Lorde. 31 Behold, I speake vnto the (O thou proude) sayeth the Lorde God of hostes: for thy daye shall come, euen the tyme of thy vysitacion. 32 And the proude shall stomble & fall, & no man shall helpe hym vp. I wyl burne vp his cities wyth fyre, and it shal consume al that is rounde aboute hym. 33 Thus sayth the Lorde of hostes: The chyldren of Israell & Iuda suffre violence together. Al they that haue them in captyuyte, kepe them faste, and wyll not let them go: 34 but theyr auenger & redemer is myghtye, whose name is the Lorde of hostes: he shal maintayne theyr cause, he shall make the lande shake, and iudge them that dwell therein, one wyth another. 35 The swearde shall come vpon the Caldees, sayeth the Lorde, vpon them that dwell in Babylon, vpon their princes, & vpon theyr wise men: 36 The swearde vpon theyr soth sayers, as for those (they shal become fooles.) The swearde vpon they: worthies, so that they shall stande in feare: 37 The swearde vpon theyr horsmen and charettes, and vpon al the comon people that dwell vnder them: so that they shall all become lyke wemen: The swearde vpon their treasure, so that it shall be stolen awaye. 38 The swearde vpon theyr waters, so that they shalbe dryed vp. For the lande worshippeth ymages, & delyteth in straunge wondrefull thynges. 39 Therfore shall wylde beastes, Apes, and Estriches dwell therin: for there shall neuer man dwell there, neyther shal any man haue his habitacion there for euermore. 40 Lyke as God destroyed Sodome and Gomorre, with the cities that laye there aboute, sayeth the Lord: So shall no man dwell there also, nether shall any man haue there hys habitacyon. 41 Beholde, there shall come a people from the North, with a greate bounde of men and many Kynges shall stande vp from the endes of the earth: 42 They beare bowes & buclers, cruel are they and vnmercyfull. Their voyce roareth lyke the ragyng sea, they ryde vpon horses, & come weapened to fyght agaynst the O Babylon. 43 As sone as the kyng of Babylon heareth tell of them, hys handes shall waxe feable: Sorowe and heuynes shal come vpon him, as a woman trauelynge wyth chylde. 44 Beholde, lyke as the Lyon commeth vp from the pleasaunt medowes of Iordane vnto the grene pastures of Ethan, so wyll I dryue them forth, & make them runne agaynst her. But whom shall I chose out, & ordene to such a thyng? For who is lyke me, or who wyl stryue wt me? or what shepherde maye stande against me? 45 Therfore heare the councel that the Lord hath geuen vpon Babylon, and the deuyce that he hath taken vpon the lande of the Caldees. The leaste amonge the people shall teare them in peces, & loke what pleasaunte thinge they haue: they shall laye it waste. 46 The noyse at the wynning of Babylon shall moue the earthe, & the crye shalbe hearde amonge the Gentyles.

Micah 5:6

6 these shall subdue the lande of Assur wyth the swerde, and the lande of Nymrod wyth their naked weapens. Thus shall he delyuer vs from the Assirian, when he commeth within oure lande, & setteth hys fote wythin oure borders.

Revelation 18:1-24

1 And after that I saw another angel come from heauen, hauinge greate power, & the earth was lightened wt his brighnes. 2 And he cryed mightely with a strong voyce, saing: Great Babylon is fallen, is fallen: and is become the habitacion of deuilles, and the holde of al foule spyrytes, and a cage of al vncleane and hateful byrdes, 3 for al nacyons haue dronken of the wyne of the wrath of her fornicacion. And the kinges of the earth haue committed fornicacion wyth her, & her marchauntes are wexed riche of the aboundance of her pleasures. 4 And I hearde another voice from heauen say: Come awaye from her my people, that ye be not partakers in her sinnes, & that ye receiue not of her plages. 5 For his sonnes are gone vp to heauen, & God hath remembred her wickednes. 6 Reward her euen as she rewarded you, & geue her double accordinge to her workes. And youre in double to her in the same cuppe, which she fylled vnto you. 7 And as muche as she glorified her selfe and lyued wantonly, so muche poure ye in for her of punishment, & sorowe, for she said in her herte: I sytte being a quene and am no wydowe, and shall se no sorowe. 8 Therfore shal her plages come at one daye, death, and sorowe, and honger, and she shalbe brente wyth fyre, for stronge is the Lorde God, whiche iudgeth her. 9 And the kynges of the earth shal bewepe her & wayle ouer her, which haue committed fornicacion with her, & haue lyued wantonly with her, when they shal se the smoke of her burning, 10 & shal stand a farre of, for feare of her punishmente, saying: Alas, Alas, that great citie Babilon, that myghty cytie. For at one houre is her iudgemente come. 11 And the marchauntes of the earth, shal wepe and wayle in them selues, for no man wil bye their ware anye more, 12 the ware of gold, & syluer, & precious stones, neither of pearle, sylke, and raynes, & purple, & skarled, and al thin wode, & all maner vessels of iuory, & al maner vessels of most precious wode, and of brasse, and of Iron, 13 & sinamome, and odoures, and oyntmentes, & frankinsence, and wine, and oyle, and fine floure, and wheat, beastes, and shepe, and horsses, & charrettes, and bodyes, and soules of men. 14 And the apples that thy soule lusted after are departed from the. And al thinges which were deyntye, & had in price are departed from the, & thou shalt finde them no more. 15 The marchauntes of these thinges, which were wexed riche shal stand a farre of from her, for feare of the punishement of her, weping & waylynge, 16 & saying: alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in raines, & purple, and scarlet, & decked wt gold, & precious stones, & pearles, 17 for at one hour so great riches is come to nought. And euery shyp gouerner, & al they that occupied shippes, & shipmen which worke in the sea, stode a farre of 18 & cried, when they saw the smoke of her burninge, sayinge: what citie is lyke vnto this great citie? 19 And they cast duste on their heades, & cried weping, & wailing, & said: Alas, alas the greate citye wherin were made riche al that had shippes in the sea, by the reason of her costlines, for at one houre is she made desolate. 20 Reioice ouer her thou heauen, and ye holy Apostles, & prophetes: for God hath geuen your iudgemente on her. 21 And a mighty angel toke vp a stone lyke a greate mylstone, & cast it into the sea, saying: wyth such violence shal that greate citie Babilon be caste, and shalbe found no more. 22 And the voice of harpers, & musicions, and of pipers, & trompeters, shalbe hearde no more in the, and no craftes man, of whatsoeuer crafte he be, shalbe founde any more in the, & the sound of a myl, shalbe hard no more in the, 23 and the voice of the brydegrome and of the bryde, shalbe hard no more in the, for thy marchauntes were the greate men of the earth. And wt thyne inchauntment were deceiued al nacions, 24 & in her was found the bloud of the prophetes, and of the sainctes and of al that were slayne vpon the earth.

Revelation 17:1-18

1 And there came one of the seuen angelles, which had the seuen vialls, and talked with me, saiynge vnto me, come I wil shew the, the iudgement of the great whore that sytteth vpon manye waters, 2 wt whom haue committed fornicacion the kinges of the earth so that the inhabiters of the earth, are drounken wyth the wyne of her fornicacion. 3 And he caryed me awaye into the wildernes in the spirite. And I saw a woman sit vpon a rose colored beaste ful of names of blasphemye, which had .x. hornes. 4 And the woman was arayed in purple & rose coloure, and decked wyth golde, precious stones and pearles, and had a cuppe of golde in her hand full of al abominacions and fylthines of her fornicacion. 5 And in her forhead was a name wrytten, a mystery, great Babylon the mother of whoredome and abominacions of the earth. 6 And I saw the wyfe drounken with the bloude of Saynctes, and with the bloud of the wytnesses of Iesu. And when I saw her, I wondred wyth great maruayle. 7 And the angel said vnto me, wherfore maruailest thou? I wil shewe the the mistery of the woman, & of the beast that beareth her, whyche had seuen heades & .x. hornes. 8 The beaste that thou seest, was, & is not, & shal ascende out of the bottomlesse pyt, & shal go into perdition, and they that dwel on the earth, shal wondre (whose names are not wrytten in the boke of lyfe from the beginninge of the worlde) when they beholde the beaste that was, and is not. 9 And here is a minde that hath wysdome. The seuen heades are seuen mountaines, on which the woman sytteth, 10 they are also .vij. kynges. Fyue are fallen, and one is, and another is not yet come. When he commeth he muste continue a space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, is euen the eyghte, and is one of the seuen, and shall go into destruccion. 12 And the .x. hornes, which thou seest, are .x. kinges, which haue receiued no kingdom, but shal receiue power as kynges at one hour with the beast. 13 These haue one minde, & shal geue their power & strength vnto the beast. 14 These shal fyght wt the lamb, & the lamb shal ouercome them. For he is Lorde of Lordes, & kinge of kinges, & they that are on his syde, are called the chosen and faithful. 15 And he sayde vnto me, the waters whyche thou saweste, where the whore sitteth are people, and folke, and nacions & tounges. 16 And the ten hornes, which thou sawest vpon the beast, are they that shal hate the whore, & shal make her desolate and naked, and shal eate her flesh and burne her wyth fyre. 17 For God hath put in their hertes to fulfil his wil, & to do wt one consent, for to geue her kingdom to the beast, vntil the wordes of God be fulfilled. 18 And the woman, which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth ouer the kinges of the earth.

Revelation 21:8

That is a greate cytye. 13 And Mizrim begat Ludim, Enamim, Leabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, & Casluhim: from whence came the Philystyns, and the Capththerynes. 15 Canaan also begat Zidon hys eldest sonne & Heth, 16 Iebusi, Emori, Girgosi, 17 Him, Arki. So brycke was theyr stone, and slyme was theyr morter. 4 And they sayed come on, let vs builde a citye & a tower, that the toppe may reach vnto heuen. And let vs make vs a name for peraduenture we shall be scatered abrod ouer al the erth. 5 And the Lord came downe to se the city and the tower which the children of Adam had builded. 6 And the Lorde sayed: See, the people is one, and haue one tonge amonge them all. And thys haue they begon to do, and wyll not leaue of frome all that they haue purposed to do. 7 Come on, let vs descende, and myngle theyr tonge euen there, that one vnderstande not what another sayeth. 8 Thus the Lorde skattered them from thence vpon all the earth. And they left of to builde the city. 9 Wherefore the name of it is called Babell, bycause that the Lorde there confounded the tonge of al the world. And bicause that the Lorde from thence scatered them abrode vpon all the earth. 10 These are the generations of Sem: Sem was an hundred yere old, & begat Arphachsad .ij. yere after the flode. 11 And Sem lyued after he hadde begat Arphachsad .v. hundred yere and begat sonnes and doughters. 12 And Arphachsad lyued .xxxv. yere & begat Sala, 13 & lyued after he hadde begat Sala .iiij. hundred yere & .iij. & begat sonnes & daughters. 14 And Sala was thirty yere olde & begat Eber, 15 and lyued after he had begot Eber .iiij. hundred & .iij. yere, & begat sonnes & daughters. 16 When Eber was .xxxiiij. yere old, he begat Peleg, 17 & lyued after he had begat Peleg foure hundred and .xxx. yere, & begat sonnes and doughters. 18 And Peleg when he was .xxx. yere old begat Regu, 19 & lyued after he had begot Regu .ij. hundred & .ix. yere, & begat sonnes & daughters. 20 And Regu when he had liued .xxxij. yere begat Serug, 21 and lyued after he had begot Serug .ii. hundred and .vij. yeare, and begat sonnes and daughters. 22 And when Serug was .xxx. yere olde, he begat Nahor, 23 & liued after he had begat Nahor .ij. hundred yere, & begat sonnes & daughters. 24 And Nahor when he was .xxix. yere old, begat Terah, 25 and lyued after he had begat Terah, an hundred and .xix. yeare and begat sonnes and doughters. 26 And when Terah was .lxx. yere old, he begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. 27 And these are the generations of Terah. Terah begatte Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran begat Lot. 28 And Haran dyed before Terah hys father in the Land where he was borne, at Or in Chaldea. 29 And Abram and Nahor toke them wyues. And Nahors wyfe Mylca, the doughter of Haran whyche was father of Milca, & of Iesca. 30 But Sarai was baren, and had no chylde. 31 Then toke Terah Abram hys sonne, & Lot hys sonne, Harans sonne, & Sarai hys daughter in lawe, hys sonne Abrams wyfe. And they went wyth him from Or in Chaldea, to goo into the Lande of Canaan. And they came to Haran and dwelled there. 32 And when Terah was two hundred yere olde and fyue, he dyed in Haran.
