²² Paul stood in the midst of Mars Street and said, "Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. ²³ For as I passed by and beheld the manner how ye worship your gods, I found an altar wherein was written, Unto the unknown God. Whom ye then ignorantly worship, him show I unto you: ²⁴ God, that made the world, and all that are in it, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, he dwelleth not in temples made with hands, ²⁵ neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed of any thing. Seeing he himself giveth life and breath to all men everywhere, ²⁶ and hath made of one blood all nations of men, for to dwell on all the face of the earth; and hath assigned before: how long time, and also the ends of their inhabitation. ²⁷ That they should seek God, if they might feel and find him: though he be not far from every one of us.

³ For it is sufficient for us that we have spent the time that is past of the life, after the will of the gentiles; walking in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, in eating, drinking, and in abominable idolatry.

⁶ Again, he sayeth unto the strangers that are disposed to stick to the LORD, to serve him, and to Love his name: That they shall be no bondman. And all they, which keep themselves, that they unhallow not the Sabbath - namely, that they fulfill my covenant - ⁷ Them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar. For my house shall be a house of prayer for all people. ⁸ Thus sayeth the LORD God which gathereth together the scattered of Israel: I will bring yet another congregation to him.

¹⁷ This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other gentiles walk; in vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ blinded in their understanding, being strangers from the life which is in God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts. ¹⁹ Which, being past repentance, have given themselves unto wantonness, to work all manner of uncleanness even with greediness.

¹⁴ that the blessing of Abraham might come on the gentiles through Jesus Christ, and that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith.

²² Even so, God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, suffered with long patience the vessels of wrath, ordained to damnation, ²³ that he might declare the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had prepared unto glory: ²⁴ that is to say, us which he called, not of the Jews only, but also of the gentiles. ²⁵ As he saith in Hosea, "I will call them my people which were not my people: and her beloved which was not beloved." ²⁶ And, "It shall come to pass, in the place where it was said unto them, 'ye are not my people,' that there shall be called the children of the living God." ²⁷ But Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, "Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet shall a remnant be saved. ²⁸ He finisheth the work verily and maketh it short in righteousness. For a short word will God make on earth." ²⁹ And as Isaiah said before, "Except the Lord of hosts had left us seed, we had been made as Sodom, and had been likened to Gomorrah." ³⁰ What shall we say then? We say that the gentiles which followed not righteousness, have overtaken righteousness: I mean, the righteousness which cometh of faith.

¹⁶ and other sheep I have, which are not of this fold. Them also must I bring, that they may hear my voice. And that there may be one flock, and one shepherd.

²⁸ Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent to the gentiles, and they shall hear it."

¹¹ Where is neither gentile nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarous or Scythian, bond or free: But Christ is all in all things.

⁷ And when there was much disputing, Peter rose up and said unto them, "Ye men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago, God chose among us that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel and believe. ⁸ And God which knoweth the heart, bare them witness, and gave unto them the holy ghost, even as he did unto us; ⁹ And he put no difference between them and us, but with faith purified their hearts.
