⁶ For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians hear a noise of chariots and a noise of horses, and the noise of a great Host. Insomuch that they said one to another, "See, the king of Israel hath hired against us, the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Egypt, to come upon us."

³ Be ye sure, that the LORD he is God; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves. We are but his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

¹⁷ but all the weapons that are made against thee, shall not prosper. And as for all tongues that shall resist thee in judgment, thou shalt overcome them, and condemn them. This is the heritage of the LORD's servants, and the righteousness that they shall have of me, sayeth the LORD.

⁷ Let the ungodly man forsake his ways and the unrighteous his imaginations, and turn again unto the LORD: so shall he be merciful unto him; and to our God, for he is ready to forgive. ⁸ For thus sayeth the LORD: My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways. ⁹ But as far as the heavens are higher than the earth, so far do my ways exceed yours, and my thoughts yours. ¹⁰ And like as the rain and snow cometh down from heaven, and returneth not thither again, but watereth the earth, maketh it fruitful and green, that it may give corn and bread unto the sower:

⁴³ Then shall the just men shine as bright as the sun in the kingdom of their father. Whosoever hath ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God,

¹ James, the servant of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, sendeth greeting to the twelve tribes which are scattered here and there. ² My brethren, count it exceeding joy when ye fall into divers temptations, ³ forasmuch as ye know how that the trying of your faith bringeth patience: ⁴ and let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and sound, lacking nothing. ⁵ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, which giveth to all men indifferently and casteth no man in the teeth; and it shall be given him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, and waver not. For even as the flower of the grass shall he vanish away. ¹¹ The sun riseth with heat, and the grass withereth and his flower falleth away, and the beauty of the fashion of it perisheth: even so shall the rich man perish with his abundance. ¹² Happy is the man that endureth in temptation, for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. ¹³ Let no man say when he is tempted that he is tempted of God: for God tempteth not unto evil, neither tempteth he any man. ¹⁴ But every man is tempted, drawn away, and enticed of his own concupiscence. ¹⁵ Then when lust hath conceived, she bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death. ¹⁶ Err not, my dear brethren. ¹⁷ Every good gift, and every perfect gift, is from above and cometh down from the father of light, with whom is no variableness, neither is he changed unto darkness. ¹⁸ Of his own will begat he us with the word of life, that we should be the first fruits of his creatures. ¹⁹ Wherefore, dear brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. ²⁰ For the wrath of man worketh not that which is righteous before God. ²¹ Wherefore lay apart all filthiness, all superfluity of maliciousness, and receive with meekness the word that is grafted in you, which is able to save your souls: ²² And see that ye be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves with sophistry. ²³ For if any hear the word, and do it not, he is like unto a man that beholdeth his bodily face in a glass. ²⁴ For as soon as he hath looked on himself, he goeth his way, and forgetteth immediately what his fashion was: ²⁵ but whoso looketh in the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein — if he be not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work — the same shall be happy in his deed. ²⁶ If any man among you seem devout, and refrain not his tongue: but deceive his own heart, this man's devotion is in vain. ²⁷ Pure devotion, and undefiled before God the father, is this: To visit the friendless, and widows in their adversity, and to keep himself unspotted of the world.

¹⁶ For all scripture given by inspiration of God, is profitable to teach, to improve, to amend, and to instruct in righteousness,

¹ Who believeth our sayings? And the arm of the LORD, to whom is it opened? ² He came up as a spray before him, and as a root out of a dry land. There was neither fashion or beauty on him. And when we looked on him, there was no godliness that we should lust after him. ³ He was despised and cast out of men's company; and one that had suffered sorrow, and had experience of infirmity. And we were as one that had hid his face from him. ⁴ He was so despisable, that we esteemed him not. Truly, he took upon him our diseases, and bare our sorrows. And yet we counted him plagued, and beaten, and humbled of God. ⁵ He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities. The correction that brought us peace was on him, and with his stripes we were healed. ⁶ And we went astray as sheep, and turned every man his way: and the LORD put on him the wickedness of us all. ⁷ He suffered wrong and was evil entreated, and yet opened not his mouth: he was as a sheep led to be slain: and as a lamb before his shearer, he was dumb and opened not his mouth. ⁸ By the reason of the affliction, he was not esteemed: and yet his generation who can number? When he is taken from the earth of living men: for my people's transgression he was plagued. ⁹ He put his sepulchre with the wicked, and with the rich in his death: because he did none iniquity, neither was guile found in his mouth. ¹⁰ And yet the LORD determined to bruise him with infirmities. His soul giving herself for trangression, he shall see seed of long continuance; and the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. ¹¹ Because of the labour of his soul, he shall see and be satisfied. With his knowledge, he, being just, shall justify my servants: and that a great number. And he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will give him his part in many, and the spoil of the rich he shall divide: because he gave his soul to death, and was numbered with the trespassers, and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for transgressors.

¹¹ For I know what I have devised for you sayeth the LORD. My thoughts are to give you peace, and not trouble, which I give you already; and that ye might have hope again.

¹² From the time of John Baptist, hitherto, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence,

¹ Because therefore that we are justified by faith we are at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

¹⁸ and pray always with all manner prayer and supplication — and that in the spirit — and watch thereunto with all instance and supplication for all saints,

¹² for the word of God is quick, and mighty in operation, and sharper than any two edged sword: and entereth through, even unto the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit and of the joints, and the marrow: and judgeth the thoughts and the intents of the heart.

¹ {Of David} Praise the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me praise his holy name. ² Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. ³ Who forgiveth all thy sin, and healeth all thine infirmities? ⁴ Who saveth thy life from destruction, and crowneth thee with mercy, and loving-kindness? ⁵ Who satisfieth thy desire with good things, making thee young and lusty as an Eagle? ⁶ The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment, for all them that are oppressed with wrong. ⁷ He showed his ways unto Moses, and his works unto the children of Israel. ⁸ The LORD is full of compassion and mercy; longsuffering, and of great goodness. ⁹ He will not alwayS be chiding, neither keepeth he his anger forever. ¹⁰ He hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our wickedness. ¹¹ For look how high the heaven is in comparison of the earth; so great is his mercy also toward them that fear him. ¹² Look how wide the east is from the west, so far hath he set our sins from us. ¹³ Yea, like as a father pitieth his own children, even so is the LORD merciful unto them that fear him. ¹⁴ For he knoweth whereof we be made, he remembereth that we are but dust; ¹⁵ that a man in his time is but as grass, and flourisheth as a flower of the field. ¹⁶ For as soon as the wind goeth over it, it is gone, and the place thereof knoweth it no more. ¹⁷ But the merciful goodness of the LORD endureth for ever and ever upon them that fear him, and his righteousness upon their children's children; ¹⁸ even upon such as keep his covenant, and think upon his commandments to do them. ¹⁹ The LORD hath prepared his seat in heaven, and his kingdom ruleth over all. ²⁰ O praise the LORD ye angels of his, ye that excel in strength, ye that fulfill his commandment, and hearken unto the voice of his word. ²¹ O praise the LORD all ye his hosts, ye servants of his that do his pleasure. ²² O speak good of the LORD, all ye works of his, in all places of his dominion; praise thou the LORD, O my soul.

¹ O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is gracious, and his mercy endureth forever. ² Let Israel now confess, that his mercy endureth forever. ³ Let the house of Aaron now confess, that his mercy endureth forever. ⁴ Yea, let them now that fear the LORD confess, that his mercy endureth forever. ⁵ I called upon the LORD in trouble, and the LORD heard me at large. ⁶ The LORD is on my side; I will not fear what man doeth unto me. ⁷ The LORD is my helper, and I shall see my desire upon mine enemies. ⁸ It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put any confidence in man. ⁹ It is better to trust in the LORD, than to put any confidence in princes. ¹⁰ All nations compassed me round about; but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. ¹¹ They kept me in, I say, on every side; but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. ¹² They came about me like bees, and are extinguished even as the fire among the thorns; for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. ¹³ They thrust at me, that I might fall; but the LORD was my help. ¹⁴ The LORD is my strength, and my song, and is become my salvation. ¹⁵ The voice of joy and health is in the dwellings of the righteous, for the righthand of the LORD bringeth mighty things to pass. ¹⁶ The righthand of the LORD hath the preeminence; the righthand of the LORD hath gotten the victory. ¹⁷ I will not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. ¹⁸ The LORD hath chastened and corrected me; but he hath not given me over unto death.

¹³ Whoso breaketh the gap, he shall go before. They shall break up the port, and go in and out at it. Their king shall go before them, and the LORD shall be upon the head of them.

³¹ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, "If ye continue in my words, then are ye my very disciples: ³² and ye shall know the truth: And the truth shall make you free."

³ Happy is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein. For the time is at hand.

¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood: but against rule, against power, and against worldly rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness for heavenly things.
