Matthew 4:1-25

1 Then was Jesus led away of the spirit into wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward a hungered. 3 Then came to him the tempter, and said, "If thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread." 4 He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'" 5 Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee: and with their hands they shall hold thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'" 7 And Jesus said to him, "It is written also, 'Thou shalt not tempt thy Lord God.'" 8 The devil took him up again and led him into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and all the glory of them; 9 and said to him, "All these will I give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me." 10 Then said Jesus unto him, "Depart, Satan: For it is written, 'Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve.'" 11 Then the devil left him, and, Behold, the angels came and ministered unto him. 12 When Jesus had heard that John was taken, he departed into Galilee; 13 and left Nazareth, and went and dwelt in Capernaum, which is a city upon the sea in the coasts of Zebulun and Naphtali: 14 to fulfill that which was spoken by Isaiah the Prophet, saying, 15 "The land of Zebulun and Naphtali, the way of the sea beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 the people which sat in darkness saw great light and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light has begun to shine." 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, "Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." 18 As Jesus walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon which was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he said unto them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20 And they straightaway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And he went forth from thence, and saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and called them. 22 And they, without tarrying, left the ship and their father and followed him. 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healed all manner of sickness and all manner diseases among the people. 24 And his fame spread abroad throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and gripings, and them that were possessed with devils and those which were lunatic and those that had the palsy: and he healed them. 25 And there followed him a great number of people from Galilee, and from the ten cities, and from Jerusalem, and from Jewry, and from the regions that lie beyond Jordan.

2 Chronicles 17:1-19

1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead and was mightier than Israel. 2 And he put soldiers in all the strong cities of Judah, and set rulers both in the land of Judah and also in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had won. 3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the old ways of his father David, and sought not Baals: 4 But sought the LORD God of his father and walked in his commandments and not after the doings of Israel. 5 Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand and all Judah brought him presents, that he became exceeding rich and glorious. 6 And his heart was courageous in the ways of the LORD, and he put down yet more of the hill altars and groves out of Judah. 7 And the third year of his reign he sent, of his lords: Benhail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah: 8 and with them, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, Levites: and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests. 9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people. 10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, that they durst not war with Jehoshaphat. 11 And the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and tribute silver. And thereto the Arabians brought him of sheep, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats. 12 And so Jehoshaphat prospered and grew up on high. And he built, in Judah, castles and store cities. 13 And he had great substance in the cities of Judah, and fighting men and men of might in Jerusalem. 14 And this is the order in the houses of their fathers, of the captains over thousands in Judah: Adnah the captain, and with him of fighting men three hundred thousand. 15 And next to him, Jehohanan a captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand. 16 And by his side, Amasiah the son of Zichri, willing unto the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men. 17 And of the children of Benjamin, Eliada was a man of might, and had with him, armed with bows and shields, two hundred thousand. 18 And by his side Jehozabad, with whom were a hundred and eighty thousand trimmed for war. 19 These waited on the king, besides those which the king had put in strong cities throughout all Judah.

Romans 13:4

4 For he is the minister of God, for thy wealth. But and if thou do evil, then fear: for he beareth not a sword for nought; but is the minister of God, to take vengeance on them that do evil.

Matthew 26:52-54

52 Then said Jesus unto him, "Put up thy sword into his sheath. For all they that lay hands on the sword, shall perish with the sword. 53 Either thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my father, and he shall give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then should the scriptures be fulfilled? For so must it be."

1 {A Psalm of David} Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood: but against rule, against power, and against worldly rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness for heavenly things.
