Bible verses about "welfare" | MKJV

Romans 15:1-2

1 Then we who are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good, to building up.

Romans 12:17-21

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as far as is in you, being in peace with all men. 19 not avenging yourselves, beloved, but giving place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord." 20 Therefore if your enemy hungers, feed him. If he thirsts, give him drink. For in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

2 Thessalonians 3:8

8 neither did we eat any man's bread freely, but we worked with labor and travail night and day, so that we might not be heavy on any of you

Leviticus 19:9-10

9 And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corner of your field. And you shall not gather the gleaning of your harvest. 10 And you shall not glean your vineyard. And you shall not gather the leavings of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am Jehovah your God.

Philippians 2:2-8

2 then fulfill my joy, that you may be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord and of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. 4 Do not let each man look upon his own things, but each man also on the things of others. 5 For let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

James 2:14-24

14 My brothers, what profit is it if a man says he has faith and does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and if one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but you do not give them those things which are needful to the body, what good is it? 17 Even so, if it does not have works, faith is dead, being by itself. 18 But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith from my works. 19 You believe that there is one God, you do well; even the demons believe and tremble. 20 But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Do you see how faith worked with his works, and from the works faith was made complete? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God." 24 You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-12

6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks disorderly, and not after the teaching which he received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us. For we did not behave ourselves disorderly among you, 8 neither did we eat any man's bread freely, but we worked with labor and travail night and day, so that we might not be heavy on any of you 9 (not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example to you, to imitate us). 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this, that if anyone would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some who walk disorderly among you, not working at all, but being busybodies. 12 Now we command and exhort those who are such, by our Lord Jesus Christ, that they work with quietness and eat their own bread.

Proverbs 28:27

27 He who gives to the poor shall not lack, but he who hides his eyes shall have many a curse.

Acts 20:35

35 I have shown you all things, that working in this way we ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Deuteronomy 15:7-11

7 If there is among you a poor man of one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother. 8 But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him enough for his need, that which he lacks. 9 Beware that there is not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand, and your eye may be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing. And he may cry to Jehovah against you, and it is sin to you. 10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing Jehovah your God shall bless you in all your works, and in all that you put your hand to. 11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land. Therefore, I command you saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land.
