¹ When you sit down to eat with a ruler, look carefully at what is before you; ² and put a knife to your throat, if you are a man given to appetite. ³ Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceitful food.

²⁵ And everyone who strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Then those truly that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

¹⁶ I say, then, Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

¹⁶ Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? ¹⁷ If anyone defiles the temple of God, God shall destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which you are.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

³ And not only this, but we glory in afflictions also, knowing that afflictions work out patience, ⁴ and patience works out experience, and experience works out hope. ⁵ And hope does not make us ashamed, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. ⁶ For we yet being without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

⁹ Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you. But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ² By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God; ³ and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the antichrist you heard is coming, and even now is already in the world. ⁴ You are of God, little children, and you have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. ⁵ They are of the world, therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them. ⁶ We are of God. He who knows God hears us. The one who is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. ⁷ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God. ⁸ The one who does not love has not known God. For God is love. ⁹ In this the love of God was revealed in us, because God sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation concerning our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. ¹² No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. ¹⁵ Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has in us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. ¹⁷ In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world. ¹⁸ There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love. ¹⁹ We love Him because He first loved us. ²⁰ If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar. For if he does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? ²¹ And we have this commandment from Him, that he who loves God should love his brother also.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. ² And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, in order to prove by you what is that good and pleasing and perfect will of God.

¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not take thought beforehand for the lusts of the flesh.

⁸ Be sensible and vigilant, because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour;

¹⁶ Have you found honey? Eat only as much as is enough for you, lest you be filled with it and vomit it.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, ²³ meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law. ²⁴ But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. ²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

⁶ and with knowledge self-control, and with self-control, patience, and with patience, godliness,

²⁷ But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected.

¹² teaching us that having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live discreetly, righteously and godly, in this present world,

²³ meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
