¹⁴ When you come to the land which Jehovah your God gives you, and shall possess it and shall live in it and shall say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations around me, ¹⁵ you shall surely set a king over you, whom Jehovah your God shall choose. You shall set a king over you from among your brothers. You may not set a stranger over you, who is not your brother.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth.

²⁰ For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which also we are looking for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

¹¹ and that you try earnestly to be quiet and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, ¹² so that you may walk becomingly toward those outside, and that you may lack nothing.

¹⁷ Honor all. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

⁷ If there is among you a poor man of one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother. ⁸ But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him enough for his need, that which he lacks. ⁹ Beware that there is not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand, and your eye may be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing. And he may cry to Jehovah against you, and it is sin to you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing Jehovah your God shall bless you in all your works, and in all that you put your hand to. ¹¹ For the poor shall never cease out of the land. Therefore, I command you saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah; the people He has chosen for His inheritance.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

²⁹ And Peter and the apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

¹⁷ Therefore tell us; what do you think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not? ¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why do you tempt Me, hypocrites? ¹⁹ Show Me the tribute money. And they brought a denarius to Him. ²⁰ And He said to them, Whose image and inscription is this? ²¹ They said to Him, Caesar's. Then He said to them, Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.

⁹ But avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions, and strivings about the Law, for they are unprofitable and vain.

¹ First of all, then, I exhort that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, ² for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God. ² So that the one resisting the authority resists the ordinance of God; and the ones who resist will receive judgment to themselves. ³ For the rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the bad. And do you desire to be not afraid of the authority? Do the good, and you shall have praise from it. ⁴ For it is a servant of God to you for good. For if you practice evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain; for it is a servant of God, a revenger for wrath on him who does evil. ⁵ Therefore you must be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake. ⁶ For because of this you also pay taxes. For they are God's servants, always giving attention to this very thing. ⁷ Therefore give to all their dues; to the one due tax, the tax; tribute to whom tribute is due, fear to whom fear is due, and honor to whom honor is due.
