⁹ Only take heed to yourself and keep your soul carefully, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. But teach them to your sons, and your sons' sons.

³ which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, showing to the generations to come the praises of Jehovah, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He has done.

⁸ For please ask of the former age, and prepare yourself to the search of their fathers, ⁹ for we are but of yesterday and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow. ¹⁰ Shall they not teach you, and tell you, and speak words out of their heart?

¹⁸ And it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write a copy of this Law in a book from before the priests, the Levites. ¹⁹ And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear Jehovah his God, to keep all the words of this Law, and these statutes, to do them, ²⁰ so that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he does not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or the left, so that he may make his days longer in his kingdom, he and his sons, in the midst of Israel.

⁴ For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, so that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
