¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ¹⁹ You shall not pervert judgment; you shall not respect persons, nor take a gift. For a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous. ²⁰ You shall follow that which is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings, the God of Heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And the kingdom shall not be left to other peoples, but it shall crush and destroy all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

²⁵ And He said to them, Therefore render to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.

⁷ Therefore give to all their dues; to the one due tax, the tax; tribute to whom tribute is due, fear to whom fear is due, and honor to whom honor is due.

⁵ even from Jesus Christ the faithful Witness, the First-born from the dead and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, ⁶ and made us kings and priests to God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁵ For He in His own time will reveal who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, ¹⁶ who alone has immortality, dwelling in light which cannot be approached, whom no one of men have seen, nor can see; to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

²⁸ For the kingdom is Jehovah's; and He is the ruler among the nations.

²⁰ Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. ²¹ And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

¹ First of all, then, I exhort that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, ² for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. ³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to every good work,

¹³ Then be in obedience to every ordinance of men, because of the Lord, whether to a king as supreme, ¹⁴ or to governors as sent by Him for vengeance on evildoers, but for praise on well-doers. ¹⁵ For such is the will of God, doing good to silence the ignorance of foolish men; ¹⁶ as free, and not having freedom as a cover of evil, but as servants of God. ¹⁷ Honor all. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

²⁹ And Peter and the apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God. ² So that the one resisting the authority resists the ordinance of God; and the ones who resist will receive judgment to themselves. ³ For the rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the bad. And do you desire to be not afraid of the authority? Do the good, and you shall have praise from it. ⁴ For it is a servant of God to you for good. For if you practice evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain; for it is a servant of God, a revenger for wrath on him who does evil. ⁵ Therefore you must be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake. ⁶ For because of this you also pay taxes. For they are God's servants, always giving attention to this very thing. ⁷ Therefore give to all their dues; to the one due tax, the tax; tribute to whom tribute is due, fear to whom fear is due, and honor to whom honor is due.
