²⁰ And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God is with me and keeps me in this way which I am going, and gives to me bread to eat and clothing to wear, ²¹ and I return in peace to the house of my father, then Jehovah shall be my God, ²² and this stone which I have placed as a memorial pillar shall become the house of God; and all which You shall give to me, I will tithe the tenth to You.

³⁰ And all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land, of the fruit of the tree, shall be Jehovah's; it is holy to Jehovah.

²⁸ At the end of three years, even the same year, you shall bring forth all the tithe of your increase, and shall lay it up within your gates.

⁷ If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God is giving to you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your needy brother. ⁸ But you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him enough for his need in that which he lacks. ⁹ Beware that there is no evil thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release draws near; and your eye be evil against your needy brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to Jehovah against you and it be sin to you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because Jehovah your God will bless you for this thing, in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to. ¹¹ For the poor will never cease from the midst of the land. On account of this I command you, saying, You shall surely open your hand to your poor and needy brother in your land.

²⁹ And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the alien, and the fatherless, and the widow who are within your gates shall come and shall eat and be satisfied; so that Jehovah your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

²² A good man leaves an inheritance to his son's sons, but the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

⁹ Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase, ¹⁰ and your barns shall be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst with new wine.

²¹ Jesus said to him, If you desire to be perfect, go sell your property and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me.

⁴² But woe to you, Pharisees, for you pay tithes of the mint, and the rue, and every plant, and pass by the judgment and the love of God. It was right to do these things, but not to leave aside those.

¹³ Do you not know that those who have labored eat of the holy things of the temple? Those attending on the altar partake with the altar. ¹⁴ So also the Lord ordained those announcing the gospel to live from the gospel.

⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

²² You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed that the field yields year by year. ²³ And you shall eat before Jehovah your God in the place which He shall choose to cause His name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Jehovah your God all your days. ²⁴ And if the way is too long for you, so that you cannot carry it, because the place is too far from you which Jehovah your God shall choose to set His name there, when Jehovah your God shall bless you; ²⁵ Then you shall give it for silver, and bind up the silver in your hand. And you shall go to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose. ²⁶ And you shall pay the silver for whatever your soul desires, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for fermented drink, or for whatever your soul desires. ²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and you have left aside the weightier matters of the Law: judgment, and mercy, and faith. It was right to do these, and not to have left those aside.

²⁴ No one is able to serve two lords; for either he will hate the one, and he will love the other; or he will cleave to the one, and he will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and wealth.

⁴² He asking you to give, and he wishing to borrow from you, do not turn away.

¹⁷ Whoever has the means of life of the world, and sees his brother having need, and shuts up his bowels from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

¹ For this "Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God," the one meeting Abraham "returning from the slaughter" "of the kings," "and blessing him;" ² to whom also Abraham "divided a tenth from all" (first being interpreted, king of righteousness; and then also king of Salem, which is, king of peace, Gen. 14:17-20 ³ without father, without mother, without genealogy, nor beginning of days, nor having end of life, but having been made like the Son of God, he remains a priest in perpetuity). ⁴ Now behold how great this one was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils; ⁵ and indeed those of the sons of Levi receiving the priesthood have a command to tithe the people according to Law, (that is, from their brothers, though coming forth out of Abraham's loins), ⁶ but he not counting his genealogy from them has tithed Abraham, and has blessed the one having the promises. ⁷ But without contradiction, the lesser is blessed by the better. ⁸ And here dying men indeed receive tithes, but there it having been witnessed that he lives; ⁹ and as a word to say, through Abraham Levi also, the one receiving tithes, has been tithed. ¹⁰ For he was yet in his father's loins when Melchizedek met him. ¹¹ Truly, then, if perfection was through the Levitical priestly office (for the people had been given Law under it), why yet need for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek and not to be called according to the order of Aaron? ¹² For the priestly office having been changed, of necessity a change of law also occurs. ¹³ For the One of whom these things are said has partaken of another tribe, from which no one has given devotion at the altar. ¹⁴ For it is clear that our Lord has risen out of Judah, as to which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. ¹⁵ And it is still more abundantly clear that if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, ¹⁶ who has not become so according to a law of a fleshly command, but according to the power of an indissoluble life. ¹⁷ For it is testified, "You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." Psa. 110:4 ¹⁸ For a voiding of the preceding command comes about because of its weakness and unprofitableness. ¹⁹ For the Law perfected nothing, but a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God. ²⁰ And by how much it was not apart from the swearing of an oath; ²¹ for they have become priests without the swearing of an oath, but He with the swearing through Him who says to Him, " The Lord swore, and will not repent, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek;" Psa. 110:4 ²² by so much Jesus has become Surety of a better covenant. ²³ And they truly are many priests, being hindered from continuing because of death; ²⁴ but He has the priesthood not to be passed on, because of His continuing forever. ²⁵ From this also He is able to save to perfection those who come to God through Him, ever living to intercede on their behalf. ²⁶ For such a High Priest was fitting for us: holy, harmless, undefiled, and separated from sinners, and having become higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who has no need, as do the high priests, to offer sacrifices day by day, first for His own sins, then for those of the people. For He did this once for all, offering up Himself. ²⁸ For the Law makes men high priests who have infirmity, but the word of the swearing of an oath, after the Law, appoints the Son forever, having been perfected.

¹ And looking up, He saw the rich ones putting their gifts into the treasury. ² And He also saw a certain poor widow putting two lepta there. ³ And He said, Truly I say to you this poor widow put in more than all. ⁴ For all these out of their abundance put into the gifts to God, but she out of her poverty put in all the living which she had.

³⁵ I showed you all things, that working in this way we ought to help those being weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

⁷ Each one as he purposes in his heart, not out of grief or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. Prov. 22:8

⁹ Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase,

³⁸ Give, and good measure will be given to you, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, they will give into your bosom. For the same measure which you measure, it will be measured back to you.

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me. But you say, In what have we robbed You? In the tithe and the offering! ⁹ You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the nation, all of it. ¹⁰ Bring all the tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. And test Me now with this, says Jehovah of hosts, whether I will not open the windows of the heavens for you and pour out a blessing until there is no sufficiency.
