Bible verses about "prophets" | LITV

Deuteronomy 13:1-5

1 If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams rises among you, and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or the wonder which he foretold to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them, 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams. For Jehovah your God is testing you, to know if you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 You shall walk after Jehovah your God, and you shall fear Him. And you shall keep His commandments, and you shall hear His voice, and you shall serve Him, and you shall cleave to Him. 5 And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken apostasy against Jehovah your God, who is bringing you out of the land of Egypt, and has redeemed you out of the house of slaves, to drive you out of the way in which Jehovah your God has commanded you to walk. And you shall put away evil from among you.

1 Corinthians 14:26-33

26 Then what is it, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, he has a teaching, he has a language, he has a revelation, he has an interpretation. Let all things be for building up. 27 If one speaks in a language, let it be by two or three at the most, and in turn, also let one interpret. 28 And if there is no interpreter, let him be silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. 29 And if there are two or three prophets, let them speak, and let the others discern. 30 But if a revelation is revealed to another sitting by, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be encouraged. 32 And the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not God of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

Amos 3:7

7 For the Lord Jehovah will do nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

1 John 4:1

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

2 Peter 1:21

21 for prophecy was not at any time borne by the will of man, but having been borne along by the Holy Spirit, holy men of God spoke.

Hebrews 1:1-2

1 In many parts and in many ways of old, God spoke to the fathers in the prophets; 2 in these last days He spoke to us in the Son, whom He appointed heir of all; through whom He indeed made the ages;
