Favor me, O God, for man snuffs me up; all the day fighting oppresses me. ² My watchers panted for me all the day; for many are proudly fighting against me. ³ The day I am afraid, I will trust in You. ⁴ In God I will praise His word; in God I have trusted; I will not fear; what will flesh do to me? ⁵ All the day they pervert my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil. ⁶ They stir up strife; they hide; they observe my footprints as they wait for my soul. ⁷ Is escape for them by iniquity? In anger the peoples cast down, O God. ⁸ You have counted my wandering; O put my tears in Your bottle; are they not in Your Book? ⁹ Then my enemies will turn back in the day I call; this I know, for God is for me. ¹⁰ In God I will praise the Word; in Jehovah I will praise the Word. ¹¹ In God I have trusted; I will not fear; what will man do to me? ¹² On me, O God, are Your vows; I will render to You thank offerings. ¹³ For You have delivered my soul from death. Do You not keep my feet from falling, so that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

²¹ Test all things, hold fast to the good.

¹⁰⁵ Nun. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

¹ A Psalm of David. A statement of Jehovah to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, until I place Your enemies as Your footstool.

⁶ Do not eat the bread of one having an evil eye, and do not desire his delicacies, ⁷ for as he thinks in his heart, so is he! He says to you, Eat and drink, but his heart is not with you. ⁸ You shall vomit the bit you have eaten and spoil your pleasant words.

¹ Then having laid aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil words, ² as newborn babes desire the pure soul-nourishing milk, that you may grow by it; ³ if indeed you "tasted" "that the Lord is good;" LXX-Psa. 33:9; MT-Psa. 34:8 ⁴ to whom having drawn near, a living Stone, indeed having been rejected by men, but chosen by God, precious; ⁵ you also as living stones are being built a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ⁶ Because of this, it is also contained in the Scripture: "Behold," I lay in Zion" an elect, "precious Stone," "a Corner-foundation;" "and the one believing in Him shall never in any way be ashamed." Isa. 28:16 ⁷ Then to you who believe belongs the preciousness. But to disobeying ones, He is the "Stone which those building rejected; this One became the Head-of-the-corner," Psa. 118:22 ⁸ and a Stone-of-stumbling, and a Rock-of-offense" to those disobeying, stumbling at the word, to which they were also appointed. Hos. 1:6, 9 2:1, 23 ¹¹ Beloved, I exhort you as temporary residents and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul; ¹² having your behavior good among the nations, in that which they speak against you as evildoers; by observing your good works, they may glorify God in a day of visitation. ¹³ Then be in obedience to every ordinance of men because of the Lord; whether to a king, as being supreme; ¹⁴ or to governors, as through Him having indeed been sent for vengeance on evildoers, but praise on well doers, ¹⁵ because so is the will of God, doing good to silence the ignorance of foolish men; ¹⁶ as free, and not having freedom as a cover of evil, but as slaves of God; ¹⁷ honor all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be obedient to your masters in all fear, not only to those good and forbearing, but also to the perverse ones . ¹⁹ For this is a grace, if because of conscience toward God anyone bears grief, suffering unjustly. ²⁰ For what glory is it if you patiently endure while sinning and being buffeted? But if you are suffering while doing good, and patiently endure, this is a grace from God. ²¹ For you were called to this, for even Christ suffered on our behalf, leaving behind an example for us, that you should follow His steps; ²² "who did not sin, nor was guile found in His mouth;" Isa. 53:9 ²³ who, having been reviled, did not revile in return; suffering, He did not threaten, but gave Himself up to Him who was judging righteously; ²⁴ who "Himself bore in His body our sins" onto the tree; that dying to sins, we might live to righteousness; of whom, "by His wound, you were healed. ²⁵ For you were straying sheep," Isa. 53:4 -6 but now you are turned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

²⁸ A perverse man causes strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

⁴⁴ but I say to you, Love your enemies; bless those cursing you, do well to those hating you; and pray for those abusing and persecuting you,
