³ Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. ⁴ And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. ⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Truthfully, truthfully, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

²³ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

¹ James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. ² My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into different temptations; ³ Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. ⁵ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. ⁷ For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. ⁸ A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. ⁹ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: ¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and the flower of it falls, and the grace of the fashion of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. ¹² Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him. ¹³ Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man: ¹⁴ But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. ¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: ²⁰ For the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God. ²¹ Therefore lay aside all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: ²⁴ For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. ²⁶ If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain. ²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

²⁵ And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

¹² Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

⁴⁸ But Jesus said unto him, Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?

¹⁰ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

¹⁰ Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Therefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
