² When pride comes, then comes shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

¹² And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

³ For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.

² With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

⁵ Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

⁴ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

¹¹ For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. ⁴ Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not a thing to be grasped to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. ⁹ Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁶ But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.
