²¹ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times? ²² Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times, but, Until seventy times seven.

³³ Be not deceived; Evil companionships corrupt good morals.

¹ Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman: 'Yea, hath God said: Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?' ² And the woman said unto the serpent: 'Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; ³ but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said: Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.' ⁴ And the serpent said unto the woman: 'Ye shall not surely die; ⁵ for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.' ⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. ⁷ And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves girdles. ⁸ And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden toward the cool of the day; and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. ⁹ And the LORD God called unto the man, and said unto him: 'Where art thou?' ¹⁰ And he said: 'I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.' ¹¹ And He said: 'Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?' ¹² And the man said: 'The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.' ¹³ And the LORD God said unto the woman: 'What is this thou hast done?' And the woman said: 'The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.' ¹⁴ And the LORD God said unto the serpent: 'Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou from among all cattle, and from among all beasts of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. ¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; they shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise their heel.' ¹⁶ Unto the woman He said: 'I will greatly multiply thy pain and thy travail; in pain thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.' ¹⁷ And unto Adam He said: 'Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying: Thou shalt not eat of it; cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life. ¹⁸ Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field. ¹⁹ In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.' ²⁰ And the man called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. ²¹ And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins, and clothed them. ²² And the LORD God said: 'Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.' ²³ Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. ²⁴ So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubim, and the flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way to the tree of life.

³⁰ A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; but envy is the rottenness of the bones.

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves,

⁵ Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, ⁷ but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men, ⁸ and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross. ⁹ Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth,

² Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

²⁷ But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, ²⁸ bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you. ²⁹ To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also. ³⁰ Give to every one that asketh thee, and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. ³¹ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. ³² And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them. ³³ And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. ³⁶ Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

¹⁶ Confess your trespasses one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.

¹¹ Our mouth is open unto you, O Corinthians, our heart is enlarged. ¹² Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own affections. ¹³ Now for a recompense in like kind (I speak as unto my children), be ye also enlarged.

⁹ And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹ James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are of the Dispersion, greeting. ² Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations, ³ Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience. ⁴ And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing. ⁵ But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubteth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed. ⁷ For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord, ⁸ a doubleminded man, unstable in all his ways. ⁹ But let the brother of low degree glory in his high estate: ¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made low; because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass; and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth; so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings. ¹² Blessed is the man that endureth temptation, for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him. ¹³ Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man: ¹⁴ but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin; and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death. ¹⁶ Be not deceived, my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning. ¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. ¹⁹ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: ²⁰ for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. ²¹ Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, he being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing. ²⁶ If any man among you thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man's religion is vain. ²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
