¹⁸ Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

²³ for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God,

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

¹⁴ if My people, upon whom My name is called, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I get. ¹³ But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner. ¹⁴ I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than indeed the other; for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁰ In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another, in honor preferring one another,

¹⁸ Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. ¹⁹ Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the humble, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

⁸ When thou art bidden of any man to a marriage feast, sit not down in the chief seat, lest haply a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him, ⁹ and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place, and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place. ¹⁰ But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place, that when he that hath bidden thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher; then shalt thou have glory in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. ¹¹ For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you.

⁸ for by grace have ye been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, ⁹ not of works, that no man should glory.

⁹ He guideth The humble in justice; and He teacheth the humble His way.

⁶ But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
