¹¹ “Sexual immorality, wine, and fresh wine seduce the heart of my people.

¹⁹ Now the actions of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, promiscuity, ²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, rivalry, jealously, outbursts of anger, quarrels, conflicts, factions, ²¹ envy, murder, drunkenness, wild partying, and things like that. I am telling you now, as I have told you in the past, that people who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁰ thieves, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers will not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁶ You know that you are God’s sanctuary and that God’s Spirit lives in you, don’t you? ¹⁷ If anyone destroys God’s sanctuary, God will destroy him, for God’s sanctuary is holy. And you are that sanctuary!

¹³ Let’s behave decently, as people who live in the light of day. No wild parties, drunkenness, sexual immorality, promiscuity, quarreling, or jealousy!

⁵ But you must be clear-headed about everything. Endure suffering. Do the work of an evangelist. Devote yourself completely to your ministry.

¹ Advice on How to Live Wine causes mocking, and beer causes fights; everyone led astray by them lacks wisdom.

¹⁷ If anyone destroys God’s sanctuary, God will destroy him, for God’s sanctuary is holy. And you are that sanctuary!

¹ Good Managers of God’s GraceTherefore, since the Messiah suffered in a mortal body, you, too, must arm yourselves with the same determination, because the person who has suffered in a mortal body has stopped sinning, ² so that he can live the rest of his mortal life guided, not by human desires, but by the will of God. ³ For you spent enough time in the past doing what the gentiles like to do, living in sensuality, sinful desires, drunkenness, wild celebrations, drinking parties, and detestable idolatry. ⁴ They insult you now because they are surprised that you are no longer joining them in the same excesses of wild living. ⁵ They will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead. ⁶ Indeed, this is why the gospel was proclaimed even to those who have died, so that they could be judged in their mortal flesh like all humans and live in the spiritual realm like God.
⁷ Because everything will soon come to an end, be sensible and clear-headed, so you can pray.

¹³ Let’s behave decently, as people who live in the light of day. No wild parties, drunkenness, sexual immorality, promiscuity, quarreling, or jealousy! ¹⁴ Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and do not obey your flesh and its desires.

¹⁸ Stop getting drunk with wine, which leads to wild living, but keep on being filled with the Spirit.

¹ Guidelines for Christian LivingBut as for you, teach what is consistent with healthy doctrine. ² Older men are to be sober, serious, sensible, and sound in faith, love, and endurance. ³ Likewise, older women are to show their reverence for God by their behavior. They are not to be gossips or addicted to alcohol, but to be examples of goodness. ⁴ They should encourage the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ to be sensible and pure, to manage their households, to be kind, and to submit themselves to their husbands. Otherwise, the word of God may be discredited.
⁶ Likewise, encourage the younger men to be sensible. ⁷ Always set an example for others by doing good actions. Teach with integrity and dignity. ⁸ Use wholesome speech that cannot be condemned. Then any opponent will be ashamed because he cannot say anything bad about us.

¹⁹ You know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God, don’t you? You do not belong to yourselves, ²⁰ because you were bought for a price. Therefore, glorify God with your bodies.

⁸ Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
