Bible verses about "clothing" | Goodspeed

Matthew 6:28-30

28 Why should you worry about clothing? See how the wild flowers grow. They do not toil or spin, 29 and yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendor was never dressed like one of them. 30 But if God so beautifully dresses the wild grass, which is alive today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, will he not much more surely clothe you, you who have so little faith?

Romans 8:5

5 People who are controlled by the physical think of what is physical, and people who are controlled by the spiritual think of what is spiritual.

Romans 12:1-2

1 I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by this mercy of God, to offer your bodies in a living sacrifice that will be holy and acceptable to God; that is your rational worship. 2 You must not adopt the customs of this world but by your new attitude of mind be transformed so that you can find out what God's will is—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

Colossians 3:12-13

12 As persons chosen by God, then, consecrated and dearly loved, you must clothe yourselves with tenderness of heart, kindness, humility, gentleness, forbearance. 13 You must bear with one another and forgive one another, if anyone has reason to be offended with anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must forgive.

1 Peter 3:3

3 You must not adopt the external attractions of arranging the hair and wearing jewelry and dress;

Matthew 6:25-34

25 Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about life, wondering what you will have to eat or drink, or about your body, wondering what you will have to wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body than clothes? 26 Look at the wild birds. They do not sow or reap, or store their food in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more account than they? 27 But which of you with all his worry can add a single hour to his life? 28 Why should you worry about clothing? See how the wild flowers grow. They do not toil or spin, 29 and yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendor was never dressed like one of them. 30 But if God so beautifully dresses the wild grass, which is alive today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, will he not much more surely clothe you, you who have so little faith? 31 So do not worry and say, 'What shall we have to eat?' or 'What shall we have to drink?' or 'What shall we have to wear?' 32 For these are all things the heathen are in pursuit of, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need all this. 33 But you must make his kingdom, and uprightness before him, your greatest care, and you will have all these other things besides. 34 So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries of its own. Let each day be content with its own ills.

1 Corinthians 11:6-10

6 For if a woman will not wear a veil, let her cut off her hair too. But if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her wear a veil. 7 For a man ought not to wear anything on his head, for he is the image of God and reflects his glory; while woman is the reflection of man's glory. 8 For man was not made from woman, but woman from man, 9 and man was not created for woman, but woman was for man. 10 That is why she ought to wear upon her head something to symbolize her subjection, out of respect to the angels, if to nobody else.

1 Peter 3:1-5

1 You married women, in the same way, must be submissive to your husbands, so that any who refuse to believe the message may be won over without argument through the behavior of their wives 2 when they see how chaste and submissive you are. 3 You must not adopt the external attractions of arranging the hair and wearing jewelry and dress; 4 yours must be the inner beauty of character, the imperishable attraction of a quiet and gentle spirit, which has great value in the sight of God. 5 It was in that way in ancient times that those pious women who set their hopes on God made themselves attractive. They were submissive to their husbands,

Ephesians 4:22-24

22 You must lay aside with your former habits your old self which is going to ruin through its deceptive passions. 23 You must adopt a new attitude of mind, 24 and put on the new self which has been created in likeness to God, with all the uprightness and holiness that belong to the truth.

Matthew 6:31-33

31 So do not worry and say, 'What shall we have to eat?' or 'What shall we have to drink?' or 'What shall we have to wear?' 32 For these are all things the heathen are in pursuit of, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need all this. 33 But you must make his kingdom, and uprightness before him, your greatest care, and you will have all these other things besides.

Luke 12:33-34

33 Sell what belongs to you, and give away the money! Get yourselves purses that will never wear out, inexhaustible riches in heaven, where thieves cannot get near nor moths destroy. 34 For wherever your treasure is, your heart will be too.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 Women for their part are to dress modestly and sensibly in proper clothes, not adorning themselves by braiding their hair or with gold or pearls or expensive clothing, 10 but, as is appropriate for women who profess to be religious, with good actions.

1 Timothy 2:9

9 Women for their part are to dress modestly and sensibly in proper clothes, not adorning themselves by braiding their hair or with gold or pearls or expensive clothing,
