³⁶ For what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

²⁴ No one is able to serve two masters: for he will hate the one, and love the other; or cleave to the one, and despise the other. You are not able to serve God and mammon.

³⁴ For no one among them was in need; for so many possessions of lands or houses as belonged to them, selling, they were bringing the prices of the things having been sold,

²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled with God even the Father is this, to relieve the orphans and widows in their affliction, and keep himself unspotted from the world.

⁶ But it is this, he that soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall also reap bountifully.

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils: which some seeking after have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he may gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and thieves break through and steal: ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not corrupt, and thieves do not break through and steal: ²¹ for where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.

³⁵ I have shown you all things, that it so behooveth you laboring to assist the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹⁷ Charge the rich in this world not to think high things, nor to hope in uncertain riches, but in God, who richly supplies us all things for our enjoyment; ¹⁸ that they do good, be rich in good works, be cheerful givers, ready communicators; ¹⁹ laying up for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.
