²³ A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?

⁶ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branche, and withereth: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burne.

² Beare ye one anothers burden, and so fulfill the Lawe of Christ.

¹ I Exhort therefore, that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giuing of thanks be made for all men, ² For Kings, and for all that are in authoritie, that we may leade a quiet and a peaceable life, in all godlinesse and honestie. ³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Sauiour, ⁴ Who will that all men shalbe saued, and come vnto the acknowledging of the trueth. ⁵ For there is one God, and one Mediatour betweene God and man, which is the man Christ Iesus, ⁶ Who gaue himselfe a ransome for all men, to be that testimonie in due time, ⁷ Whereunto I am ordeined a preacher and an Apostle (I speake the trueth in Christ, and lie not) euen a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and veritie. ⁸ I will therefore that the men pray, euery where lifting vp pure hands without wrath, or douting. ⁹ Likewise also the women, that they aray themselues in comely apparell, with shamefastnes and modestie, not with broyded heare, or gold, or pearles, or costly apparell, ¹⁰ But (as becommeth women that professe the feare of God) with good workes. ¹¹ Let the woman learne in silence with all subiection. ¹² I permit not a woman to teache, neither to vsurpe authoritie ouer the man, but to be in silence. ¹³ For Adam was first formed, then Eue. ¹⁴ And Adam was not deceiued, but the woman was deceiued, and was in the transgression. ¹⁵ Notwithstanding, through bearing of children she shalbe saued if they continue in faith, and loue, and holines with modestie.

⁶ And the tongue is fire, yea, a worlde of wickednesse: so is the tongue set among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell.

¹ Wherefore, laying aside all maliciousnes, and all guile, and dissimulation, and enuie, and all euill speaking, ² As newe borne babes desire that sincere milke of the woorde, that yee may growe thereby, ³ Because yee haue tasted that the Lord is bountifull. ⁴ To whome comming as vnto a liuing stone disallowed of men, but chosen of God and precious, ⁵ Yee also as liuely stones, bee made a spirituall house, an holy Priesthoode to offer vp spirituall sacrifices acceptable to God by Iesus Christ. ⁶ Wherefore also it is conteyned in the Scripture, Beholde, I put in Sion a chiefe corner stone, elect and precious: and hee that beleeueth therein, shall not be ashamed. ⁷ Vnto you therefore which beleeue, it is precious: but vnto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, ⁸ And a stone to stumble at, and a rocke of offence, euen to them which stumble at the woorde, being disobedient, vnto the which thing they were euen ordeined. ⁹ But yee are a chosen generation, a royall Priesthoode, an holy nation, a people set at libertie, that yee shoulde shewe foorth the vertues of him that hath called you out of darkenesse into his marueilous light, ¹⁰ Which in time past were not a people, yet are nowe the people of God: which in time past were not vnder mercie, but nowe haue obteined mercie. ¹¹ Dearely beloued, I beseeche you, as strangers and pilgrims, abstaine from fleshly lusts, which fight against the soule, ¹² And haue your conuersation honest among the Gentiles, that they which speake euill of you as of euill doers, may by your good woorkes which they shall see, glorifie God in the day of visitation. ¹³ Therefore submit your selues vnto all maner ordinance of man for the Lordes sake, whether it be vnto the King, as vnto the superiour, ¹⁴ Or vnto gouernours, as vnto them that are sent of him, for the punishment of euill doers, and for the praise of them that doe well. ¹⁵ For so is the will of God, that by well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of the foolish men, ¹⁶ As free, and not as hauing the libertie for a cloke of maliciousnesse, but as the seruauntes of God. ¹⁷ Honour all men: loue brotherly fellowship: feare God: honour the King. ¹⁸ Seruaunts, be subiect to your masters with all feare, not onely to the good and courteous, but also to the froward. ¹⁹ For this is thanke worthie, if a man for conscience toward God endure griefe, suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what praise is it, if when ye be buffeted for your faultes, yee take it paciently? but and if when ye doe well, ye suffer wrong and take it paciently, this is acceptable to God. ²¹ For hereunto ye are called: for Christ also suffred for you, leauing you an ensample that ye should follow his steppes. ²² Who did no sinne, neither was there guile found in his mouth. ²³ Who when hee was reuiled, reuiled not againe: when hee suffered, hee threatned not, but comitted it to him that iudgeth righteously. ²⁴ Who his owne selfe bare our sinnes in his body on the tree, that we being dead to sinne, should liue in righteousnesse: by whose stripes ye were healed. ²⁵ For ye were as sheepe going astray: but are nowe returned vnto the shepheard and Bishop of your soules.

¹ Though I speake with the tongues of men and Angels, and haue not loue, I am as sounding brasse, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I had the gift of prophecie, and knewe all secrets and all knowledge, yea, if I had all faith, so that I could remooue mountaines and had not loue, I were nothing. ³ And though I feede the poore with all my goods, and though I giue my body, that I be burned, and haue not loue, it profiteth me nothing. ⁴ Loue suffreth long: it is bountifull: loue enuieth not: loue doeth not boast it selfe: it is not puffed vp: ⁵ It doeth no vncomely thing: it seeketh not her owne things: it is not prouoked to anger: it thinketh not euill: ⁶ It reioyceth not in iniquitie, but reioyceth in the trueth: ⁷ It suffreth all things: it beleeueth all things: it hopeth all things: it endureth all things. ⁸ Loue doeth neuer fall away, though that prophecyings be abolished, or the tongues cease, or knowledge vanish away. ⁹ For we knowe in part, and we prophecie in part. ¹⁰ But when that which is perfect, is come, then that which is in part, shalbe abolished. ¹¹ When I was a childe, I spake as a childe, I vnderstoode as a childe, I thought as a childe: but when I became a man, I put away childish thinges. ¹² For nowe we see through a glasse darkely: but then shall wee see face to face. Nowe I know in part: but then shall I know euen as I am knowen. ¹³ And nowe abideth faith, hope and loue, euen these three: but the chiefest of these is loue.

²² But I say vnto you, whosoeuer is angry with his brother vnaduisedly, shalbe culpable of iudgment. And whosoeuer sayth vnto his brother, Raca, shalbe worthy to be punished by the Councill. And whosoeuer shall say, Foole, shalbe worthy to be punished with hell fire.
