¹⁶ Ye haue not chosen me, but I haue chosen you, and ordeined you, that ye goe and bring foorth fruite, and that your fruite remaine, that whatsoeuer ye shall aske of the Father in my Name, he may giue it you.

⁸ Herein is my Father glorified, that ye beare much fruite, and be made my disciples.

⁶ And I am persuaded of this same thing, that he that hath begunne this good worke in you, wil perfourme it vntill the day of Iesus Christ,

⁵ Therefore giue euen all diligence thereunto: ioyne moreouer vertue with your faith: and with vertue, knowledge: ⁶ And with knowledge, temperance: and with temperance, patience: and with patience, godlines: ⁷ And with godlines, brotherly kindnes: and with brotherly kindnes, loue. ⁸ For if these things be among you, and abound, they will make you that ye neither shalbe idle, nor vnfruitfull in the acknowledging of our Lord Iesus Christ: ⁹ For he that hath not these things, is blinde, and can not see farre off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his olde sinnes.

¹⁴ What auaileth it, my brethren, though a man saith he hath faith, when he hath no workes? can that faith saue him? ¹⁵ For if a brother or a sister bee naked and destitute of daily foode, ¹⁶ And one of you say vnto them, Depart in peace: warme your selues, and fil your bellies, notwithstading ye giue them not those things which are needefull to the body, what helpeth it? ¹⁷ Euen so the faith, if it haue no woorkes, is dead in it selfe. ¹⁸ But some man might say, Thou hast the faith, and I haue woorkes: shewe me thy faith out of thy woorkes, and I will shewe thee my faith by my woorkes. ¹⁹ Thou beleeuest that there is one God: thou doest well: the deuils also beleeue it, and tremble. ²⁰ But wilt thou vnderstand, O thou vaine man, that the faith which is without workes, is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father iustified through workes, when he offred Isaac his sonne vpon the altar? ²² Seest thou not that the faith wrought with his workes? and through the workes was the faith made perfect. ²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which sayeth, Abraham beleeued God, and it was imputed vnto him for righteousnesse: and hee was called the friende of God. ²⁴ Ye see then howe that of workes a man is iustified, and not of faith onely. ²⁵ Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot iustified through workes, when she had receiued ye messengers, and sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body without ye spirit is dead, euen so the faith without workes is dead.

²² But the fruite of the Spirit is loue, ioye, peace, long suffering, gentlenes, goodnes, fayth, ²³ Meekenesse, temperancie: against such there is no lawe.

²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said to them, Bring forth fruite and multiplie, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule ouer the fish of the sea, and ouer the foule of the heauen, and ouer euery beast that moueth vpon the earth.

If they haue persecuted me, they will persecute you also: if they haue kept my worde, they will also keepe yours. ²¹ But all these things will they doe vnto you for my Names sake, because they haue not knowen him that sent me. ²² If I had not come and spoken vnto them, they shoulde not haue had sinne: but nowe haue they no cloke for their sinne. ²³ He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done workes among them which none other man did, they had not had sinne: but nowe haue they both seene, and haue hated both me, and my Father. ²⁵ But it is that the worde might be fulfilled, that is written in their Lawe, They hated me without a cause. ²⁶ But when that Comforter shall come, whom I will send vnto you from the Father, euen the Spirit of trueth, which proceedeth of the Father, he shall testifie of me. ²⁷ And ye shall witnesse also, because ye haue bene with me from the beginning.
