² A foole hath no delite in vnderstanding: but that his heart may be discouered.

²³ He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soule from afflictions.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and reasonings, ¹⁵ That ye may be blamelesse, and pure, and the sonnes of God without rebuke in the middes of a naughtie and crooked nation, among whom yee shine as lights in the world, ¹⁶ Holding forth the worde of life, that I may reioyce in the day of Christ, that I haue not runne in vaine, neither haue laboured in vaine.

¹ Him that is weake in the faith, receiue vnto you, but not for controuersies of disputations.

¹ I Beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that yee giue vp your bodies a liuing sacrifice, holy, acceptable vnto God, which is your reasonable seruing of God.

¹ Pvt them in remembrance that they bee subiect to the Principalities and powers, and that they bee obedient, and ready to euery good woorke, ² That they speake euill of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, shewing all meekenesse vnto all men. ³ For wee our selues also were in times past vnwise, disobedient, deceiued, seruing the lustes and diuers pleasures, liuing in maliciousnes and enuie, hatefull, and hating one another: ⁴ But when that bountifulnesse and that loue of God our Sauiour toward man appeared, ⁵ Not by the woorkes of righteousnesse, which we had done, but according to his mercie he saued vs, by the washing of the newe birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost, ⁶ Which he shed on vs aboundantly, through Iesus Christ our Sauiour, ⁷ That we, being iustified by his grace, should be made heires according to the hope of eternall life. ⁸ This is a true saying, and these thinges I will thou shouldest affirme, that they which haue beleeued God, might be carefull to shewe foorth good woorkes. These things are good and profitable vnto men. ⁹ But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and brawlings about the Lawe: for they are vnprofitable and vaine. ¹⁰ Reiect him that is an heretike, after once or twise admonition, ¹¹ Knowing that hee that is such, is peruerted, and sinneth, being damned of his owne selfe.

³ And why seest thou the mote, that is in thy brothers eye, and perceiuest not the beame that is in thine owne eye?

⁹ But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and brawlings about the Lawe: for they are vnprofitable and vaine.

¹⁹ Wherefore my deare brethren, let euery man be swift to heare, slowe to speake, and slowe to wrath.

⁴ He is puft vp and knoweth nothing, but doteth about questions and strife of words, whereof commeth enuie, strife, railings, euill surmisings,

¹ A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.

² And fashion not your selues like vnto this worlde, but bee yee changed by the renewing of your minde, that ye may prooue what that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God is.

⁹ It is better to dwell in a corner of the house top, then with a contentious woman in a wide house.

¹⁶ Stay prophane, and vaine babblings: for they shall encrease vnto more vngodlinesse.

⁵ Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ,

¹ From whence are warres and contentions among you? are they not hence, euen of your pleasures, that fight in your members? ² Ye lust, and haue not: ye enuie, and desire immoderately, and cannot obtaine: ye fight and warre, and get nothing, because ye aske not. ³ Ye aske, and receiue not, because ye aske amisse, that ye might lay the same out on your pleasures.

¹⁴ Of these things put them in remembrance, and protest before the Lord, that they striue not about wordes, which is to no profit, but to the peruerting of the hearers.

²³ And put away foolish and vnlearned questions, knowing that they ingender strife. ²⁴ But the seruant of ye Lord must not striue, but must be gentle toward all men, apt to teache, suffering the euill, ²⁵ Instructing them with meekenesse that are contrary minded, prouing if God at any time will giue them repentance, that they may acknowledge the trueth,
