²² An angry man stirreth up strife, and a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.

²⁰ For lack of wood the fire goeth out: and where there is no whisperer, contention ceaseth.

¹⁴ The beginning of strife is [as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before there be quarrelling.

²⁵ He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

¹⁰ Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and ignominy shall cease.

¹⁶ There be six things which the LORD hateth; yea, seven which are an abomination unto him: ¹⁷ Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood; ¹⁸ An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief; ¹⁹ A false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

¹⁸ A wrathful man stirreth up contention: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

¹⁵ And if thy brother sin against thee, go, shew him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. ¹⁶ But if he hear [thee] not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican.

¹⁴ But if ye have bitter jealousy and faction in your heart, glory not and lie not against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom is not [a wisdom] that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these], fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, heresies, ²¹ envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they which practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁸ A froward man scattereth abroad strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

³ It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife: but every fool will be quarrelling.

²³ But foolish and ignorant questionings refuse, knowing that they gender strifes. ²⁴ And the Lord’s servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing, ²⁵ in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,
