Isaiah 1:1-31

1 ¶ The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. 2 ¶ Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the LORD speaks, I have nourished and brought up sons, and they have rebelled against me. 3 The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master’s crib; but Israel does not know, my people do not have understanding. 4 O sinful nation, people laden with iniquity, generation of evildoers, corrupt sons! They have forsaken the LORD; they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger; they have turned back. 5 Why should I chastise you any more? Ye will revolt more and more; every head is sick, and every heart faint. 6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in him; but wounds, and bruises, and putrefying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. 7 Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. 8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. 9 Except the LORD of the hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. 10 ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, ye princes of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. 11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? shall the LORD say. I am full of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bullocks or of lambs or of he goats. 12 When ye come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to tread my courts? 13 Bring no more vain oblations; the incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot stand them; iniquity and the solemn meeting. 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. 15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; likewise, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood. 16 ¶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil; 17 learn to do good; seek judgment; restore unto the oppressed; hear the fatherless in right judgment; protect the widow. 18 Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool. 19 If ye are willing and hearken, ye shall eat the good of the land; 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it. 21 ¶ How is the faithful city become a harlot! It was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers. 22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: 23 Thy princes are rebellious and companions of thieves; every one loves bribes and follows after rewards; they do not hear the fatherless in judgment, neither does the cause of the widow come unto them. 24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of the hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease myself of my adversaries and avenge myself of my enemies; 25 and I will turn my hand upon thee and according to pureness purge away thy dross and take away all thy tin; 26 and I will restore thy judges as at the first and thy counsellors as at the beginning; afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness, the faithful city. 27 Zion shall be ransomed with judgment and her converts with righteousness. 28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and those that forsook the LORD shall be consumed. 29 For ye shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the groves that ye have chosen. 30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf falls and as a garden that has no water. 31 And the strong idol shall be as tow and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and no one shall be able to quench them.

Exodus 20:5

5 Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

Psalms 23:1-6

1 A Psalm of David. ¶ The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff shall comfort me. 5 Thou shalt prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup is running over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will rest in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalms 91:1-16

1 ¶ He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my hope and my fortress: my God; in him will I secure myself. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the mortal pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings thou shalt be secure: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 Thousands shall fall at thy side and ten thousands at thy right hand, but it shall not come near thee. 8 Surely with thine eyes thou shalt behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 ¶ Because thou hast made the LORD, who is my hope, even the most High, thy habitation, 10 no evil shall befall thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thy foot stumble against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he has set his will upon me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and glorify him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my saving health.

Ezekiel 18:20

20 The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him who is righteous, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him who is wicked.

2 Timothy 2:22-26

22 ¶ Flee also youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with those that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and unwise questions refuse, knowing that they do beget contentions. 24 That the slave of the Lord should not be contentious, but be meek unto everyone, apt to teach, patient, 25 that with meekness they might teach those that resist, if God peradventure will grant unto them that they might repent and know the truth, 26 and that they may become converted out of the snare of the devil, in which they are captive to do his will.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

11 and that ye procure to be quiet and to do your business and to work with your hands, as we commanded you, 12 that ye may walk honestly toward those that are without, and that ye may desire nothing from any one.

Philippians 3:16

16 Nevertheless, in that unto which we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us have the same mind.

Titus 3:1-3

1 ¶ Admonish them to be subject to dominion and power, and to persuade those who have authority, that they be quick unto every good work. 2 That they speak evil of no one, that they not be contentious, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men. 3 For we ourselves also were foolish in another time, rebellious, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Galatians 5:16-17

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Galatians 5:15

15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye are not consumed one of another.
