Bible verses about "debtors" | EJ2000

Matthew 18:23-33

23 Therefore is the kingdom of the heavens likened unto a man who is king who would take account of his slaves. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But he not having wherewith to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife and children and all that he had, to make payment. 26 The slave therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27 Then the lord of that slave was moved with compassion and loosed him and forgave him the debt. 28 But as the same slave was leaving, he found one of his fellowslaves who owed him a hundred denarius, and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what thou owest. 29 And his fellowslave fell down at his feet and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 30 And he would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellowslaves saw what was done, they were very grieved and came and declared unto their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord, after he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked slave, I forgave thee all that debt because thou didst beseech me; 33 was it not also expedient unto thee to have mercy on thy fellowslave even as I had mercy on thee?

Psalms 37:21

21Lamed The wicked borrows and does not repay: but the righteous shows mercy and gives.

Matthew 6:9-13

9 ¶ Ye, therefore, are to pray like this: Our Father who art in the heavens, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And set us free from our debts, as we set free our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Exodus 20:1-17

1 ¶ And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt out of the house of slavery. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath nor that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me 6 and showing mercy unto thousands of generations of those that love me and keep my commandments. 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone that takes his name in vain. 8 Thou shalt remember the sabbath day, to sanctify it. 9 Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work; 10 but the seventh day shall be the sabbath of the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manslave, nor thy maidslave, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; 11 for in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it. 12 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be lengthened upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee. 13 Thou shalt not murder. 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal. 16 Thou shalt not give false testimony against thy neighbour. 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manslave, nor his maidslave, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

Romans 13:1-14

1 ¶ Let every soul submit itself to the higher powers. For there is no power but of God, and the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resists the power, resists the ordinance of God, and those that resist shall receive condemnation to themselves. 3 For the magistrates are not a terror unto those who do good, but to the doer of evil. Is thy desire therefore to not fear the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same; 4 for he is a minister of God for thy good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain, for he is a minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary that ye be subject, not only for punishment, but also for conscience sake. 6 For this cause ye also pay them tribute, for they are God’s ministers, attending continually to this very thing. 7 ¶ Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. 8 Owe no one anything, but love one unto another; for he that loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet, and if there is any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Charity works no evil to a neighbour; therefore, charity is the fulfillment of the law. 11 ¶ And this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awaken ourselves out of sleep, for now is our saving health nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is past, and the day is come; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us clothe ourselves with the weapons of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But be clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not listen to the flesh, to fulfil its desires.

Psalms 37:21-22

21Lamed The wicked borrows and does not repay: but the righteous shows mercy and gives. 22 For such as are blessed of him shall inherit the earth, and those that are cursed of him shall be cut off.

Matthew 5:26

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out of there, until thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
