Proverbs 22:1-29

1 ¶ A good reputation is rather to be chosen than great riches and good grace rather than silver and gold. 2 ¶ The rich and poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all. 3 ¶ A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and receive hurt. 4 ¶ Riches and honour and life are the remuneration of humility and of the fear of the LORD. 5 ¶ Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he that keeps his soul shall be far from them. 6 ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it. 7 ¶ The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. 8 ¶ He that sows iniquity shall reap iniquity, and the rod of his anger shall fail. 9 ¶ He that has a merciful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the destitute. 10 ¶ Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; strife and reproach shall cease. 11 ¶ He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend. 12 ¶ The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthrows the words of the transgressor. 13 ¶ The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets. 14 ¶ The mouth of strange women is a deep pit; he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein. 15 ¶ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. 16 ¶ He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches and who gives to the rich shall surely come to want. 17 ¶ Bow down thine ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my wisdom. 18 For it is a delightful thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall be ordered together in thy lips. 19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. 20 Have I not written unto thee three times in counsels and knowledge, 21 that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mightest answer the words of truth to those that send unto thee? 22 ¶ Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither destroy the destitute in judgment: 23 For the LORD will judge their cause and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them. 24 ¶ Do not meddle with an angry man, and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25 Lest thou learn his ways and get a snare to thy soul. 26 ¶ Be not thou one of them that strike hands or of them that are sureties for debts. 27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should they take away thy bed from under thee? 28 ¶ Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set. 29 ¶ Seest thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.

Proverbs 10:9

9 ¶ He that walks in integrity walks securely, but he that perverts his ways shall be broken.

Romans 12:2

2 And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your soul that ye may experience what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

Philippians 4:8

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, exercise yourselves in these things.

Romans 5:3-5

3 And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience; 4 and patience, experience; and experience, hope; 5 and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

Philippians 2:12-16

12 ¶ Therefore, my beloved, as ye have always hearkened, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own saving health with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 ¶ Do all things without murmurings and doubts, 15 that ye may be blameless and innocent, children of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, that I may glory in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

2 Peter 1:3-11

3 as all things that pertain to life and to godliness are given us of his divine power, through the knowledge of him that has called us by his glory and virtue, 4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye might be made participants of the divine nature, having fled the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 ¶ Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; 6 and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; 7 and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. 8 For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacks these things is blind and walks feeling the way with his hand, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, give all the more diligence to make your calling and election sure; for doing these things, ye shall never fall. 11 Because in this manner the entrance shall be abundantly administered unto you in the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

1 Samuel 16:7

7 And the LORD replied unto Samuel, Do not look on his countenance or on the height of his stature because I have refused him, for it is not as man sees, for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

Romans 5:1-5

1 ¶ Justified therefore by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, 2 by whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and glory in hope of the glory of the sons of God. 3 And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience; 4 and patience, experience; and experience, hope; 5 and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.
