¹² Hatred stirreth up strifes: and charity covereth all sins.

³⁶ Master, which is the great commandment in the law? ³⁷ Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart and with thy whole soul and with thy whole mind. ³⁸ This is the greatest and the first commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.

¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments.

¹³ And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.

¹ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. ⁴ Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up, ⁵ Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil: ⁶ Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth: ⁷ Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. ⁸ Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void or tongues shall cease or knowledge shall be destroyed. ⁹ For we know in part: and we prophesy in part. ¹⁰ But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. ¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child. ¹² We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known. ¹³ And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church and delivered himself up for it:

⁸ But before all things have a constant mutual charity among yourselves: for charity covereth a multitude of sins.

¹⁹ Let us therefore love God: because God first hath loved us.

¹⁸ Fear is not in charity: but perfect charity casteth out fear, because fear hath sin. And he that feareth is not perfected in charity.

⁷ Dearly beloved, let us love one another: for charity is of God. And every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God.

²⁹ And Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is, Hear, O Israel: the Lord thy God is one God. ³⁰ And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart and with thy whole soul and with thy whole mind and with thy whole strength. This is the first commandment. ³¹ And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.

¹³ Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁴ But above all these things have charity, which is the bond of perfection.

⁸ He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is charity.

¹⁴ Let all your things be done in charity.
