²⁰ There is a treasure to be desired, and oil in the dwelling of the just: and the foolish man shall spend it.

⁶ Go to the ant, O sluggard, and consider her ways, and learn wisdom: ⁷ Which, although she hath no guide, nor master, nor captain, ⁸ Provideth her meat for herself in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

²³ Be diligent to know the countenance of thy cattle, and consider thy own flocks: ²⁴ For thou shalt not always have power: but a crown shall be given to generation and generation. ²⁵ The meadows are open, and the green herbs have appeared, and the hay is gathered out of the mountains. ²⁶ Lambs are for thy clothing: and kids for the price of the field. ²⁷ Let the milk of the goats be enough for thy food, and for the necessities of thy house, and for maintenance for thy handmaids.

⁴ Labour not to be rich: but set bounds to thy prudence. ⁵ Lift not up thy eyes to riches which thou canst not have: because they shall make themselves wings like those of an eagle, and shall fly towards heaven.

¹⁹ Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through, and steal. ²⁰ But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal. ²¹ For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.

¹⁷ Charge the rich of this world not to be highminded nor to trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God (who giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy) ¹⁸ To do good, to be rich in good work, to give easily, to communicate to others, ¹⁹ To lay up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the true life.

⁶ Now this I say: He who soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly: and he who soweth in blessings shall also reap blessings.

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy substance, and give him of the first of all thy fruits;

⁷ The rich ruleth over the poor: and the borrower is servant to him that lendeth.
