¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which is] your intelligent service. ² And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of [your] mind, that ye may prove what [is] the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

¹¹ For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared, ¹² teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things, ¹³ awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.

⁸ but hospitable, a lover of goodness, discreet, just, pious, temperate,

⁸ Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.

¹² teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,

⁷ But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;

³² He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

²⁷ But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest [after] having preached to others I should be myself rejected.

⁵ But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge, ⁶ in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness, ⁷ in godliness brotherly love, in brotherly love love:

²⁴ Know ye not that they who run in [the] race-course run all, but one receives the prize? Thus run in order that ye may obtain. ²⁵ But every one that contends [for a prize] is temperate in all things: *they* then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but *we* an incorruptible. ²⁶ *I* therefore thus run, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beating the air. ²⁷ But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest [after] having preached to others I should be myself rejected.

⁷ For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of wise discretion.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, ²³ meekness, self-control: against such things there is no law.

¹³ No temptation has taken you but such as is according to man`s nature; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able [to bear], but will with the temptation make the issue also, so that [ye] should be able to bear [it].

²⁸ He that hath no rule over his own spirit is [as] a city broken down, without walls.
