³¹ Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on? ³² for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things. ³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

²⁶ For what does a man profit, if he should gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

¹⁹ and I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much good things laid by for many years; repose thyself, eat, drink, be merry. ²⁰ But God said to him, Fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; and whose shall be what thou hast prepared? ²¹ Thus is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

²⁷ But Jesus looking on them says, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.

⁶ But piety with contentment *is* great gain. ⁷ For we have brought nothing into the world: [it is] [manifest] that neither can we carry anything out. ⁸ But having sustenance and covering, we will be content with these. ⁹ But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many unwise and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. ¹⁰ For the love of money is [the] root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

⁴ Rejoice in [the] Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice. ⁵ Let your gentleness be known of all men. The Lord [is] near. ⁶ Be careful about nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; ⁷ and the peace of God, which surpasses every understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts by Christ Jesus.

¹⁵ Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;

²⁶ He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

²⁷ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it. ²⁸ Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to-morrow I will give, when thou hast it by thee.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

²¹ Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to [the] poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. ²² But the young man, having heard the word, went away grieved, for he had large possessions.

¹⁶ And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The land of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly. ¹⁷ And he reasoned within himself saying, What shall I do? for I have not [a place] where I shall lay up my fruits. ¹⁸ And he said, This will I do: I will take away my granaries and build greater, and there I will lay up all my produce and my good things; ¹⁹ and I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much good things laid by for many years; repose thyself, eat, drink, be merry. ²⁰ But God said to him, Fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; and whose shall be what thou hast prepared? ²¹ Thus is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

¹ Go to now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that [are] coming upon [you]. ² Your wealth is become rotten, and your garments moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is eaten away, and their canker shall be for a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have heaped up treasure in [the] last days.

⁸ But if any one does not provide for his own, and specially for those of [his] house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than the unbeliever.
