²⁷ He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

¹⁵ And he said to them, Take heed and keep yourselves from all covetousness, for [it is] not because a man is in abundance [that] his life is in his possessions.

⁵ Put to death therefore your members which [are] upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.

⁵ For this ye are [well] informed of, knowing that no fornicator, or unclean person, or person of unbridled lust, who is an idolater, has inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.

⁵ [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in [the] Lord, that ye should no longer walk as [the rest of] the nations walk in [the] vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ being darkened in understanding, estranged from the life of God by reason of the ignorance which is in them, by reason of the hardness of their hearts, ¹⁹ who having cast off all feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greedy unsatisfied lust. ²⁰ But *ye* have not thus learnt the Christ, ²¹ if ye have heard him and been instructed in him according as [the] truth is in Jesus; ²² [namely] your having put off according to the former conversation the old man which corrupts itself according to the deceitful lusts; ²³ and being renewed in the spirit of your mind; ²⁴ and [your] having put on the new man, which according to God is created in truthful righteousness and holiness.

³ But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;

¹⁰ For the love of money is [the] root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

¹⁶ because all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
