¹ {To the chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David.} The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They have corrupted themselves, they have done abominable works: there is none that doeth good.

³ A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools. ⁴ Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. ⁵ Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. ⁶ He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off [his own] feet, [and] drinketh damage. ⁷ The legs of the lame hang loose; so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. ⁸ As a bag of gems in a stoneheap, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. ⁹ [As] a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. ¹⁰ A master roughly worketh every one: he both hireth the fool and hireth passers-by. ¹¹ As a dog turneth back to its vomit, [so] a fool repeateth his folly. ¹² Hast thou seen a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

⁷ A fool`s mouth is destruction to him, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

²³ It is as sport to a foolish [man] to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

⁷ Go from the presence of a foolish man, in whom thou perceivest not the lips of knowledge. ⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way; but the folly of the foolish is deceit. ⁹ Fools make a mock at trespass; but for the upright there is favour.

²⁸ Even a fool when he holdeth his peace is reckoned wise, [and] he that shutteth his lips, intelligent.

¹⁶ A wise [man] feareth and departeth from evil; but the foolish is overbearing and confident.

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient to rule, to be ready to do every good work, ² to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, [to be] mild, shewing all meekness towards all men. ³ For we were once ourselves also without intelligence, disobedient, wandering in error, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love to man of our Saviour God appeared, ⁵ not on the principle of works which [have been done] in righteousness which *we* had done, but according to his own mercy he saved us through [the] washing of regeneration and renewal of [the] Holy Spirit, ⁶ which he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; ⁷ that, having been justified by *his* grace, we should become heirs according to [the] hope of eternal life. ⁸ The word [is] faithful, and I desire that thou insist strenuously on these things, that they who have believed God may take care to pay diligent attention to good works. These things are good and profitable to men. ⁹ But foolish questions, and genealogies, and strifes, and contentions about the law, shun; for they are unprofitable and vain. ¹⁰ An heretical man after a first and second admonition have done with, ¹¹ knowing that such a one is perverted, and sins, being self-condemned.

²⁶ He that confideth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

²² But *I* say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to [be called before] the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire.

⁶ A fool`s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for stripes.

⁹ If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.

¹⁹ so is a man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am I not in sport?

¹¹ A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.

⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge: fools despise wisdom and instruction.

² A fool hath no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself.
