¹⁴ Clouds and wind without rain, [so] is a man that boasteth himself of a false gift.

¹² For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but these, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not intelligent. ¹³ Now *we* will not boast out of measure, but according to the measure of the rule which the God of measure has apportioned to us, to reach to you also. ¹⁴ For we do not, as not reaching to you, overstretch ourselves, (for we have come to you also in the glad tidings of the Christ;) ¹⁵ not boasting out of measure in other people`s labours, but having hope, your faith increasing, to be enlarged amongst you, according to our rule, yet more abundantly <sup>16</sup> to announce the glad tidings to that [which is] beyond you, not to be boasting in another`s rule of things made ready to hand. ¹⁷ But he that boasts, let him boast in the Lord. ¹⁸ For not *he* that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

⁴ [How long] shall they utter [and] speak insolence -- all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

⁷ For who makes thee to differ? and what hast thou which thou hast not received? but if also thou hast received, why boastest thou as not receiving?

⁸ For ye are saved by grace, through faith; and this not of yourselves; it is God`s gift:

³⁰ If it is needful to boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity.

¹ But this know, that in [the] last days difficult times shall be there; ² for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, ³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good, ⁴ traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁵ having a form of piety but denying the power of it: and from these turn away.

² Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

²³ Thus saith Jehovah: Let not the wise glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty glory in his might; let not the rich glory in his riches:

¹⁶ But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.
