Bible verses about "boasting" | Darby

Proverbs 25:14

14 Clouds and wind without rain, [so] is a man that boasteth himself of a false gift.

2 Corinthians 10:12-18

12 For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but these, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not intelligent. 13 Now *we* will not boast out of measure, but according to the measure of the rule which the God of measure has apportioned to us, to reach to you also. 14 For we do not, as not reaching to you, overstretch ourselves, (for we have come to you also in the glad tidings of the Christ;) 15 not boasting out of measure in other people`s labours, but having hope, your faith increasing, to be enlarged amongst you, according to our rule, yet more abundantly 16 to announce the glad tidings to that [which is] beyond you, not to be boasting in another`s rule of things made ready to hand. 17 But he that boasts, let him boast in the Lord. 18 For not *he* that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

Ephesians 2:9

9 not on the principle of works, that no one might boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

James 4:13-16

13 Go to now, ye who say, To-day or to-morrow will we go into such a city and spend a year there, and traffic and make gain, 14 ye who do not know what will be on the morrow, ([for] what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, appearing for a little while, and then disappearing,) 15 instead of your saying, If the Lord should [so] will and we should live, we will also do this or that. 16 But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.

Psalms 94:4

4 [How long] shall they utter [and] speak insolence -- all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

1 Corinthians 4:7

7 For who makes thee to differ? and what hast thou which thou hast not received? but if also thou hast received, why boastest thou as not receiving?

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 But this know, that in [the] last days difficult times shall be there; 2 for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, 3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good, 4 traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; 5 having a form of piety but denying the power of it: and from these turn away.

Proverbs 27:2

2 Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
