⁵ Likewise you that are younger men be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." ⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. ⁷ Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.

³ The older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to much wine, but they are to teach what is good,

⁸ Having so fond an affection for you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.

² And the things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. ³ The older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to much wine, but they are to teach what is good, ⁴ so they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, ⁵ to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
