¹⁶ Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with him."

⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is he who condemns? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who is also interceding for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

⁹ When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained; ¹⁰ they cried out with a loud voice, "O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

¹² Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

¹⁴ If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or a wrongdoer, or a troublesome meddler; ¹⁶ yet if one suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but under that name let him glorify God.
