³³ And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, ³⁴ "Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you arethe Holy One of God!" ³⁵ But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him without doing him any harm. ³⁶ And they were all amazed and said to one another, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!"

¹⁷ And one of the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you, who has a mute spirit. ¹⁸ And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to cast out the spirit, but they could not." ¹⁹ He answered him, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me." ²⁰ And they brought the boy to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. ²¹ And Jesus asked his father, "How long has he been like this?" And he said, "From childhood. ²² And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us." ²³ Jesus said to him, "If you can, all things are possible to him who believes." ²⁴ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" ²⁵ And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again." ²⁶ And the spirit cried out, convulsed him terribly, and came out. And the boy was like a corpse; so that many of them said, "He is dead." ²⁷ But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. ²⁸ And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" ²⁹ And he said to them, "This kind can only come out by prayer."

⁸ For he had said to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!"

⁴² While he was coming, the demon threw him and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

¹⁷ The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name."

⁴⁹ Now John answered, "Master, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he that is not against you is for you."

²⁰ But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

¹⁸ She continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And it came out at that very moment.

¹³ But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." ¹⁴ Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. ¹⁵ But the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered all of them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

¹² so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.

¹³ Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

⁷ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

¹⁸ For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit; ¹⁹ in which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who formerly did not obey, when the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through water. ²¹ And corresponding to that, baptism now saves younot the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good consciencethrough the resurrection of Jesus Christ, ²² who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels and authorities and powers subject to him.

¹³ So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea.

³⁸ John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name and we forbade him, because he was not one of us."

¹⁵ But the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?"

¹¹ God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, ¹² so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.

¹⁹ Behold, I have given you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you.

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ in addition to all this, taking up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. ¹⁸ Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and petition. And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

⁸ Be sober, be alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

¹⁶ He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; ¹⁸ they will pick up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."
