Genesis 10:10

10 And coming is the beginning of his kingdom to be Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Isaiah 13:1-22

1 LOAD OF BABYLON which was perceived by Isaiah, the son of Amoz:" 2 On a mountain ridge lift up a banner! Raise high the voice to them! Do not fear! Wave a hand! And they shall enter the portals of the patrons. 3 I, I instruct My hallowed. And I call them. Moreover, I call My masters, for My anger, even My joyous and My proud." 4 The sound of a throng in the mountains, like many people! The sound of tumult of kingdoms, of nations being gathered! Yahweh of hosts is Musterer of the battle host" 5 coming from a land afar, from the end of the heavens, Yahweh and the instruments of His menace, to harm the entire earth." 6 Howl! For near is the day of Yahweh! As devastation from Him Who-Suffices shall it come. 7 Therefore all hands shall be slack, and every mortal's heart shall melt" 8 and be flustered. Throes and cramps shall take hold of them. As a bearing woman shall they travail. A man at his associate shall be amazed, and as a facade of blazes are their faces." 9 Behold! The day of Yahweh has come, cruel, with rage and hot anger, to make the entire earth a desolation, and its sinners is He exterminating from it." 10 For the stars of the heavens are not appearing, and their constellations are not irradiating their light. Dark is the sun in its faring forth, and the moon is not brightening with its light." 11 And I check over all the habitance for its evil, and on the wicked for their depravity. And I eradicate the pomp of the arrogant, and the pride of the terrifiers am I abasing." 12 More precious am I making the remaining mortal than glittering gold. And a human than certified African gold. 13 Therefore the heavens will I disturb, and the earth shall quake from its place, in the furious rage of Yahweh of hosts, and in the day of His hot anger." 14 And the remainder becomes as a gazelle running away, and as a flock straying with no one to get it together. Each man toward his people shall face, and each man to his land shall flee." 15 Everyone found shall be stabbed, and everyone gathered up shall fall by the sword." 16 And their children shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes. Their houses shall be rifled, and their wives ravished." 17 Behold Me rousing against them the Medes, who are not accounting silver, and gold--they are not delighting in it." 18 And with bows they are dashing the youths to pieces, and on the fruit of the belly they are not having compassion. And over the sons their eye is not commiserating." 19 And it comes that Babylon, the stateliest of kingdoms, the beauty, the pomp of the Chaldeans, shall be as the overturning of Sodom and Gomorrah by the Elohim." 20 It shall not be indwelt permanently, nor shall anyone tabernacle there further, for generation after generation, nor shall the Arabian tent there, nor shepherds recline their flocks there." 21 Yet the animals of arid spaces will recline there, and their houses will be full of their uproar. And the ostrich will tabernacle there. And hairy creatures will dance there." 22 And falcons will respond in their citadels, and jackals in the delicate palaces. And near to come is her era, and her days shall not be protracted further."

Jeremiah 32:28

28 `Therefore, thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he has captured it;"

Jeremiah 46:13-26

13 The word that Yahweh has spoken unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning the coming in of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, to smite the land of Egypt:" 14 `Declare you in Egypt, and sound in Migdol, Yea, sound in Noph, and in Tahpanhes say:Station yourself, yea, prepare for you, For a sword has devoured around you, 15 Wherefore has your bull been swept away? He has not stood, because Yahweh thrust him away." 16 He has multiplied the stumbling, Yea one has fallen upon his neighbor, And they say:Rise, and we turn back to our people, And unto the land of our birth, Because of the oppressing sword." 17 They have cried there:Pharaoh king of Egypt [is] a desolation, Passed by has the appointed time." 18 I live--an affirmation of the King, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name, Surely as Tabor [is] among mountains, And as Carmel by the sea--he comes in, 19 Goods for removal make for you, O inhabitant, daughter of Egypt, For Noph becomes a desolation, And has been burnt up, without inhabitant." 20 A heifer very fair [is] Egypt, Rending from the north does come into her." 21 Even her hired ones in her midst [are] as calves of the stall, For even they have turned, They have fled together, they have not stood, For the day of their calamity has come on them, The time of their inspection." 22 Its voice as a serpent goes on, For with a force they go, And with axes they have come in to her, As hewers of trees." 23 They have cut down her forest, An affirmation of Yahweh--for it is not searched, For they have been more than the grasshopper, And they have no numbering." 24 Ashamed has been the daughter of Egypt, She has been given into the hand of the people of the north." 25 Said has Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am seeing after Amon of No, And after Pharaoh, and after Egypt, And after her elohims, and after her kings, And after Pharaoh, and after those trusting in him, 26 And I have given them into the hand of those seeking their life, And into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of his servants, And afterwards it is inhabited, As [in] days of old--an affirmation of Yahweh."

1 Peter 5:13

13 Greeting you is the ecclesia in Babylon, chosen together with you, and Mark, my son. "

Psalms 137:8

8 Daughter of Babylon, the devastator, Happy is he who shall repay you With your dealing which you dealt to us."

Revelation 18:1-24

1 After these things I perceived another messenger descending out of heaven, having great authority. And the earth is illuminated by his glory." 2 And he cries with a strong voice, saying, "It falls! It falls! Babylon the great! And it became the dwelling place of demons and the jail of every unclean spirit and the cage of every unclean and hateful bird, 3 for, as a result of the wine of the fury of her prostitution have all the nations fallen. And the kings of the earth commit prostitution with her,and the merchants of the earth are rich as a result of her power to indulge." 4 And I hear another voice out of heaven, saying, "Come out of her, My people, lest you should be joint participants in her sins, and lest you should be getting of her calamities, 5 for her sins were piled up to heaven, and God remembers her injuries." 6 Pay her as she also pays, and double the doubles, in accord with her acts. In her cup in which she blends, blend double for her." 7 As much as she glorifies herself and indulges, so much torment and mourning be giving her, for she is saying in her heart, 'I am sitting a queen, and am no widow, and mourning I may by no means see.'" 8 Therefore in one day shall her calamities be arriving; death and mourning and famine. And she shall be burned up with fire, for strong is the Lord God Who judges her." 9 And the kings of the earth, who commit prostitution and indulge with her, will be lamenting and grieving over her whenever they may be observing the smoke of her conflagration, 10 standing afar off because of the fear of her torment, saying, 'Woe! Woe! that great city! Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour your judging came.'" 11 And the merchants of the earth are lamenting and mourning over her, for no one is buying their cargo any longer:" 12 a cargo of gold, and of silver, and of precious stones, and of pearls; and of cambric, and of purple, and of silk, and of scarlet; including also every kind of citron wood; and every ivory utensil, and every utensil of most valuable wood and of copper and of iron and of marble;" 13 including also cinnamon, and ginger, and incenses, and attar, and frankincense; and wine, and oil, and flour, and grain; and beasts, and sheep, and made up of horses, and of coaches, and of bodies, including also human souls." 14 And the fruition of your yearning soul passed away from you, and all that is sumptuous and splendid perished from you, and they will be finding them no longer under any circumstances.'" 15 The merchants of these things, who are rich through her, will be standing afar off because of the fear of her torment, lamenting and mourning, 16 saying, 'Woe! woe! the great city clothed in cambric and purple and scarlet, and gilded with gold and precious stones, and pearl, 17 for in one hour was desolated so much riches!' "And every navigator, and every one who is sailing at the place, and mariners and whoever are working on the sea, stand afar off, 18 and, observing the smoke of her conflagration, they cried, saying, 'Is there any like this great city?'" 19 And they cast soil on their heads, and cried, lamenting and mourning, saying, 'Woe! Woe! the great city, by which all who have ships on the sea are rich as a result of its preciousness, for in one hour it was desolated!'" 20 Make merry over her, O heaven, and ye saints and apostles and prophets, seeing that God judges by passing your sentence upon her." 21 And one strong messenger lifts a stone, as large as a millstone, and casts it into the sea, saying that "Thus Babylon, the great city, will be hurled down, and nevermore be found in it." 22 And the sound of lyre singers and entertainers, and of flutists and trumpeters should be heard in you nevermore; and every artificer of every trade may be found in you nevermore; and the sound of a millstone should be heard in you nevermore;" 23 and the light of a lamp may be appearing in you nevermore; and the voice of the bridegroom and bride should be heard in you nevermore; for your merchants were the magnates of the earth, for by your enchantment all nations were deceived." 24 And in it the blood of prophets and of saints was found, and of all of those slain upon the earth."

2 Kings 24:7

7 And the king of Egypt has not added any more to go out from his own land, for the king of Babylon has taken, from the brook of Egypt unto the river Phrat, all that had been to the king of Egypt.

Revelation 16:19

19 And the great city came to be divided into three parts; and the cities of the nations fall. And Babylon the great is brought to remembrance in the sight of God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fury of His indignation."

Jeremiah 50:1-46

1 The word that Yahweh has spoken concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet:" 2 `Declare you among nations, and sound, And lift up an ensign, sound, do not hide, Say you:Captured has been Babylon, Put to shame has been Bel, Broken has been Merodach, Put to shame have been her grievous things, Broken have been her idols." 3 For come up against her has a nation from the north, It makes her land become a desolation, And there is not an inhabitant in it. From man even unto beast, They have moved, they have gone." 4 In those days, and at that time, An affirmation of Yahweh, Come in do sons of Israel, They and sons of Judah together, Going on and weeping they go, And Yahweh their Elohim they seek." 5 [To] Zion they ask the way, Thitherward [are] their faces:Come in, and we are joined unto Yahweh, A covenant eonian--not forgotten." 6 A perishing flock has My people been, Their shepherds have caused them to err, [To] the mountains causing them to go back, From mountain unto hill they have gone, They have forgotten their crouching-place." 7 All finding them have devoured them, And their adversaries have said:We are not guilty, Because that they sinned against Yahweh, The habitation of righteousness, And the hope of their fathers--Yahweh." 8 Move you from the midst of Babylon, And from the land of the Chaldeans go out. And be as he-goats before a flock." 9 For, lo, I am stirring up, And am causing to come up against Babylon, An assembly of great nations from a land of the north, And they have set in array against her, From thence she is captured, Its arrow--as a skilful hero--returns not empty, 10 And Chaldea has been for a spoil, All her spoilers are satisfied, An affirmation of Yahweh." 11 Because you rejoice, because you exult, O spoilers of Mine inheritance, Because you increase as a heifer [at] the tender grass, And do cry aloud as bulls, 12 Ashamed has been your mother greatly, Confounded has she been that bare you, Lo, the hindermost of nations [is] a wilderness, A dry land, and a desert." 13 Because of the wrath of Yahweh it is not inhabited, And it has been a desolation--all of it. Every passer by at Babylon is astonished, And does hiss because of all her plagues." 14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about, All you treading a bow, Shoot at her, have no pity on the arrow, For against Yahweh she has sinned." 15 Shout against her round about, She has given forth her hand, Fallen have her foundations, Thrown down have been her walls, For it [is] the vengeance of Yahweh, Be avenged of her, as she did--do you to her." 16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, And him handling the sickle in the time of harvest, Because of the oppressing sword, Each unto his people--they turn, And each to his land--they flee." 17 A scattered sheep is Israel, lions have driven away, At first, devour him did the king of Asshur, And now, at last, broken his bone Has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon." 18 Therefore thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am seeing after the king of Babylon, And after his land, As I have seen after the king of Asshur;" 19 And I have brought back Israel unto his habitation, And he has fed on Carmel, and on Bashan. And in mount Ephraim, and on Gilead is his soul satisfied." 20 In those days, and at that time, An affirmation of Yahweh, Sought is the iniquity of Israel, and it is not, And the sin of Judah, and it is not found, For I am propitious to those whom I leave!" 21 Against the land of Merathaim:Go up against it, and unto the inhabitants of Pekod, Waste and devote their posterity, An affirmation of Yahweh, And do according to all that I have commanded you." 22 A noise of battle [is] in the land, and of great destruction." 23 How has it been cut and broken, The hammer of the whole earth! How has Babylon been for a desolation among nations!" 24 I have laid a snare for you, And also--you are captured, O Babylon, And you--you have known, You have been found, and also are caught, For against Yahweh you have stirred yourself up." 25 Yahweh has opened His treasury, And He brings out the weapons of His indignation, For a work [is] to the Lord Yahweh of Hosts, In the land of the Chaldeans." 26 Come you in to her from the extremity, Open you her storehouses, Raise her up as heaps, and devote her, Let her have no remnant." 27 Slay all her kine, they go down to slaughter, Woe [is] on them, for come has their day, The time of their inspection." 28 A voice of fugitives and escaped ones [Is] from the land of Babylon, To declare in Zion the vengeance of Yahweh our Elohim, The vengeance of His temple." 29 Summon unto Babylon archers, all treading the bow, Encamp against her round about, Let [her] have no escape; Recompense to her according to her work, According to all that she did--do to her, For unto Yahweh she has been proud, Unto the Holy One of Israel." 30 Therefore fall do her young men in her broad places, And all her men of war are cut off in that day, An affirmation of Yahweh." 31 Lo, I [am] against you, O pride, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh of Hosts, For your day has come, the time of your inspection." 32 And stumbled has pride, And he has fallen, and has no raiser up, And I have kindled a fire in his cities, And it has devoured all round about him." 33 Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Oppressed are the sons of Israel, And the sons of Judah together, And all their captors have kept hold on them, They have refused to send them away." 34 Their Redeemer [is] strong, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name, He does thoroughly plead their cause, So as to cause the land to rest, And He has given trouble to the inhabitants of Babylon." 35 A sword [is] for the Chaldeans, An affirmation of Yahweh, And it [is] on the inhabitants of Babylon, And on her heads, and on her wise men;" 36 A sword [is] on the princes, And they have become foolish; A sword [is] on her mighty ones, And they have been broken down;" 37 A sword [is] on his horses and on his chariot, And on all the rabble who [are] in her midst, And they have become women; A sword [is] on her treasuries, And they have been spoiled;" 38 A sword [is] on her waters, and they have been dried up, For it [is] a land of graven images, And in idols they do boast themselves." 39 Therefore dwell do Ziim with Iim, Yea, dwelt in her have daughters of the ostrich, And it is not inhabited any more for ever, Nor dwelt in unto all generations." 40 As overthrown by Elohim with Sodom, And with Gomorrah, and with its neighbors, An affirmation of Yahweh, none does dwell there, Nor sojourn in her does a son of man." 41 Lo, a people has come from the north, Even a great nation, And many kings are stirred up from the sides of the earth." 42 Bow and halbert they seize, Cruel [are] they, and they have no mercy, Their voice as a sea sounds, and on horses they ride, Set in array as a man for battle, Against you, O daughter of Babylon." 43 Heard has the king of Babylon their report, And feeble have been his hands, Distress has seized him; pain as a travailing woman." 44 Lo, as a lion he comes up, Because of the rising of the Jordan, Unto the enduring habitation, But I cause to rest, I cause them to run from off her. And who is chosen? on her I lay a charge, For who [is] like Me? And who does convene Me? And who [is] this shepherd who stands before Me? 45 Therefore, hear you the counsel of Yahweh, That He counselled concerning Babylon, And His devices that He has devised Concerning the land of the Chaldeans; Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Does He not make desolate over them the habitation? 46 From the voice:Captured was Babylon, Has the earth been shaken, And a cry among nations has been heard!"

Revelation 17:1-18

1 And one from among the seven messengers who have the seven bowls came, and he speaks with me, saying, "Hither! I shall be showing you the sentence of the great prostitute who is sitting on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth commit prostitution, and those dwelling on the earth are made drunk with the wine of her prostitution." 3 And he carries me away, in spirit, into a wilderness. And I perceived a woman sitting on a scarlet wild beast replete with names of blasphemy, and having seven heads and ten horns." 4 And the woman was clothed with purple and scarlet, and gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, brimming with abominations and the uncleannesses of the prostitution of her and the earth." 5 And on her forehead is written a name: Secret Babylon the Great the mother of the prostitutes and the abominations of the earth. 6 And I perceive the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And I marvel at perceiving her. The marvel is great!" 7 And the messenger said to me, "Wherefore do you marvel? I shall be declaring to you the secret of the woman and of the wild beast which is bearing her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns." 8 The wild beast which you perceived was, and is not, and is about to be ascending out of the submerged chaos, and to be going away into destruction. And marvel shall those dwelling on the earth, whose names are not written on the scroll of life from the disruption of the world, when they observe the wild beast, seeing that it was, and is not, and will be present." 9 Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains where the woman is sitting on them, 10 And they are seven kings. Five fall, one is, the other came not as yet; and whenever he may be coming, he must remain briefly." 11 And the wild beast which was, and is not, it also is the eighth, and is from among the seven, and is going away into destruction." 12 And the ten horns which you perceived are ten kings who obtained no kingdom as yet, but are obtaining authority as kings one hour with the wild beast." 13 These have one opinion, and they are giving their power and authority to the wild beast." 14 These will be battling with the Lambkin, and the Lambkin will be conquering them, seeing that It is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with It are called and chosen and faithful." 15 And he is saying to me, "These waters which you perceived, where the prostitute is sitting, are peoples and throngs and nations and languages." 16 And the ten horns which you perceived, and the wild beast, these will be hating the prostitute, and they will be making her desolate and naked, and they will be eating her flesh, and they will be burning her up with fire, 17 for God imparts to their hearts to form His opinion, and to form one opinion, and to give their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God shall be accomplished." 18 And the woman whom you perceived is the great city which has a kingdom over the kings of the earth."

Jeremiah 51:58

58 Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, the wall of Babylon--The broad one--is utterly made bare, And her high gates with fire are burnt, And peoples labor in vain, And nations in fire, and have been weary!"
