¹⁸ But keep in mind the Lord your God: for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth, so that he may give effect to the agreement which he made by his oath with your fathers, as at this day.

⁸ Let this book of the law be ever on your lips and in your thoughts day and night, so that you may keep with care everything in it; then a blessing will be on all your way, and you will do well.

¹ Happy is the man who does not go in the company of sinners, or take his place in the way of evil-doers, or in the seat of those who do not give honour to the Lord. ² But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and whose mind is on his law day and night. ³ He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time, whose leaves will ever be green; and he will do well in all his undertakings. ⁴ The evil-doers are not so; but are like the dust from the grain, which the wind takes away. ⁵ For this cause there will be no mercy for sinners when they are judged, and the evil-doers will have no place among the upright, ⁶ Because the Lord sees the way of the upright, but the end of the sinner is destruction.

³ Let not mercy and good faith go from you; let them be hanging round your neck, recorded on your heart; ⁴ So you will have grace and a good name in the eyes of God and men.

²⁶ For what profit has a man, if he gets all the world with the loss of his life? or what will a man give in exchange for his life?

¹⁰ He who is true in a little, is true in much; he who is false in small things, is false in great. ¹¹ If, then, you have not been true in your use of the wealth of this life, who will give into your care the true wealth?

⁶ Have no cares; but in everything with prayer and praise put your requests before God.

⁵ While you are living, all will give way before you: as I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not take away my help from you or give you up. ⁶ Take heart and be strong; for you will give to this people for their heritage the land which I gave by an oath to their fathers. ⁷ Only take heart and be very strong; take care to do all the law which Moses my servant gave you, not turning from it to the right hand or to the left, so that you may do well in all your undertakings. ⁸ Let this book of the law be ever on your lips and in your thoughts day and night, so that you may keep with care everything in it; then a blessing will be on all your way, and you will do well. ⁹ Have I not given you your orders? Take heart and be strong; have no fear and do not be troubled; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go,

³ And keep the orders of the Lord your God, walking in his ways, keeping his laws and his orders and his rules and his words, as they are recorded in the law of Moses; so that you may do well in all you do and wherever you go,

⁵ Put all your hope in God, not looking to your reason for support.

¹⁰ Have no fear, for I am with you; do not be looking about in trouble, for I am your God; I will give you strength, yes, I will be your helper; yes, my true right hand will be your support.

¹¹ For I am conscious of my thoughts about you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope at the end.

² And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God.

²⁵ So I say to you, Take no thought for your life, about food or drink, or about clothing for your body. Is not life more than food, and the body more than its clothing? ²⁶ See the birds of heaven; they do not put seeds in the earth, they do not get in grain, or put it in store-houses; and your Father in heaven gives them food. Are you not of much more value than they? ²⁷ And which of you by taking thought is able to make himself a cubit taller? ²⁸ And why are you troubled about clothing? See the flowers of the field, how they come up; they do no work, they make no thread: ²⁹ But I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. ³⁰ But if God gives such clothing to the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is put into the oven, will he not much more give you clothing, O you of little faith? ³¹ Then do not be full of care, saying, What are we to have for food or drink? or, With what may we be clothed? ³² Because the Gentiles go in search of all these things: for your Father in heaven has knowledge that you have need of all these things: ³³ But let your first care be for his kingdom and his righteousness; and all these other things will be given to you in addition.

¹⁰ Make yourselves low in the eyes of the Lord and you will be lifted up by him.

¹ My son, keep my teaching in your memory, and my rules in your heart: ² For they will give you increase of days, years of life, and peace. ³ Let not mercy and good faith go from you; let them be hanging round your neck, recorded on your heart; ⁴ So you will have grace and a good name in the eyes of God and men.

⁴ So will your delight be in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires.

³ Put your works into the hands of the Lord, and your purposes will be made certain.

¹³ I am able to do all things through him who gives me strength.
