³³ But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you in addition.

³⁵ Let your loins be girded, and your lamps burning;

⁴ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day; the night comes, when no man can work.

⁴⁰ Be you, therefore, ready also; for at an hour when you think not, the Son of man comes.

²⁰ Now, if I do that which I wish not to do, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. ²¹ I find, then, this law: That, when I wish to do good, evil is present with me.

¹¹ But no chastisement seems, at the time, to be a matter of joy, but of grief: yet afterward, it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it.

¹³ I am able to do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

⁵⁹ And he said to another: Follow me. But he replied: Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ Jesus said: Let the dead bury their own dead; but do you go and publish abroad the kingdom of God. ⁶¹ And another said: I will follow thee, Lord; but first permit me to take leave of those at home. ⁶² Jesus said to him: No one that puts his hand to the plow, and looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

¹⁷ Therefore, to him that knows how to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

¹⁵ See, then, that you walk circumspectly, not as unwise, but as wise men, ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Wherefore, be not ignorant, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
