¹⁵ And wine that maketh glad the heart of man,
[And] oil to make his face to shine,
And bread that strengtheneth man's heart.

²¹ It is good not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [to do anything] whereby thy brother stumbleth.

²⁰ If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances, ²¹ Handle not, nor taste, nor touch ²² (all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men? ²³ Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship, and humility, and severity to the body; [but are] not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

²⁰ Be not among winebibbers,
Among gluttonous eaters of flesh: ²¹ For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty;
And drowsiness will clothe [a man] with rags.

³ that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;

²³ Be no longer a drinker of water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

¹⁶ Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee,
Lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.

⁸ Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,

⁵ Let your forbearance be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler;
And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.

¹³ For ye, brethren, were called for freedom; only [use] not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants one to another.

¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;

⁷ in all things showing thyself an ensample of good works; in thy doctrine [showing] uncorruptness, gravity,

²⁷ It is not good to eat much honey:
So [for men] to search out their own glory is grievous.

²⁵ And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they [do it] to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

¹² All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any.
