¹⁴ [As] clouds and wind without rain,
[So is] he that boasteth himself of his gifts falsely.

¹² For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with certain of them that commend themselves: but they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding. ¹³ But we will not glory beyond [our] measure, but according to the measure of the province which God apportioned to us as a measure, to reach even unto you. ¹⁴ For we stretch not ourselves overmuch, as though we reached not unto you: for we came even as far as unto you in the gospel of Christ: ¹⁵ not glorying beyond [our] measure, [that is], in other men's labors; but having hope that, as your faith groweth, we shall be magnified in you according to our province unto [further] abundance, ¹⁶ so as to preach the gospel even unto the parts beyond you, [and] not to glory in another's province in regard of things ready to our hand. ¹⁷ But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. ¹⁸ For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

⁹ not of works, that no man should glory.

⁸ for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, [it is] the gift of God; ⁹ not of works, that no man should glory.

⁵ So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!

¹³ Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain: ¹⁴ whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. ¹⁵ For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that. ¹⁶ But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.

⁴ They prate, they speak arrogantly:
All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.

⁷ For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?

⁸ for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, [it is] the gift of God;

³⁰ If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that concern my weakness.

¹ Boast not thyself of to-morrow;
For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

¹ But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. ² For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof: from these also turn away.

² Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth;
A stranger, and not thine own lips.

²³ Thus saith Jehovah, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches;

¹⁶ But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.
