¹⁷ The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. ¹⁸ The LORD is near to them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. ¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all. ²⁰ He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken.

⁸ Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning; for in you do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul to you. ⁹ Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies: I flee to you to hide me. ¹⁰ Teach me to do your will; for you are my God: your spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

¹⁴ And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

⁴ For he is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath on him that does evil.

³ You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

¹ Blessed be the LORD my strength which teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Why take to you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
