¹⁹ He is chastened also with pain on his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

³⁰ The blueness of a wound cleans away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

³ And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; ⁴ And patience, experience; and experience, hope: ⁵ And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:

⁶ And he said to me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely. ⁷ He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

²² But his flesh on him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

¹ To you, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. ² O my God, I trust in you: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me. ³ Yes, let none that wait on you be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. ⁴ Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. ⁵ Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day. ⁶ Remember, O LORD, your tender mercies and your loving kindnesses; for they have been ever of old. ⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to your mercy remember you me for your goodness' sake, O LORD. ⁸ Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. ¹⁰ All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. ¹¹ For your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity; for it is great. ¹² What man is he that fears the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. ¹³ His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. ¹⁴ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant. ¹⁵ My eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. ¹⁶ Turn you to me, and have mercy on me; for I am desolate and afflicted. ¹⁷ The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring you me out of my distresses. ¹⁸ Look on my affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. ¹⁹ Consider my enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. ²⁰ O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in you. ²¹ Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on you. ²² Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

¹⁸ Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? will you be altogether to me as a liar, and as waters that fail?

¹¹ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

¹⁹ What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? ²⁰ For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

¹⁹ Why let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as to a faithful Creator.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

¹⁷ My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

³ The LORD will strengthen him on the bed of languishing: you will make all his bed in his sickness.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests on you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. ¹⁶ Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. ¹⁷ For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? ¹⁸ And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? ¹⁹ Why let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as to a faithful Creator.

¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

⁴ And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
