¹⁵ He said to them, But whom say you that I am? ¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. ¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father which is in heaven. ¹⁸ And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. ¹⁹ And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

⁶ But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then said he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house. ⁷ And he arose, and departed to his house. ⁸ But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power to men.

¹⁹ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the middle, and said to them, Peace be to you. ²⁰ And when he had so said, he showed to them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD. ²¹ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be to you: as my Father has sent me, even so send I you. ²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive you the Holy Ghost: ²³ Whose soever sins you remit, they are remitted to them; and whose soever sins you retain, they are retained.

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ³⁹ For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

²⁰ But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son on the altar? ²² See you how faith worked with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which said, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. ²⁴ You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ²⁵ Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

¹² Why, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. ¹³ For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

¹⁰ And to the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: ¹¹ But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

⁷ For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man has his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. ⁸ I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

³² But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: ³³ But he that is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. ³⁴ There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

¹⁵ Therefore, brothers, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word, or our letter.

⁶ Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

¹ Be you followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. ² Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
