⁹ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession; that ye should show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;

⁷ with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men; ⁸ knowing that whatever good thing each may have done, that shall he receive from the Lord, whether bond or free.

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more, in knowledge and all discernment; ¹⁰ in order that ye may approve the things that are most excellent, that ye may be pure and without offense unto the day of Christ;

³ Seeing that his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and might; ⁴ through which he has given us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world through lust;

⁷ But, as in everything ye abound, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and all diligence, and your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

⁷ In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works; in teaching, showing uncorruptness, gravity,

²³ Whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men;

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
