2 G452 Annas G2532 and G2533 Caiaphas G1909 being G749 the high priests, G4487 the utterance G2316 of God G1096 [G5633] came G1909 to G2491 John G5207 the son G2197 of Zacharias G1722 in G2048 the wilderness.

3 G2532 And G2064 [G5627] he came G1519 into G3956 all G4066 the region about G2446 Jordan, G2784 [G5723] proclaiming G908 the baptism G3341 of a change of mind G1519 for G859 the remission G266 of sins;

5 G3956 Every G5327 valley G2071 [G5704] shall be G4137 [G5701] filled, G2532 and G3956 every G3735 mountain G2532 and G1015 hill G5013 [G5701] shall be brought low; G2532 and G4646 the crooked G1519 shall be made G2117 straight, G2532 and G5138 the rough G3598 ways G1519 shall be made G3006 smooth;

6 G2532 And G3956 all G4561 flesh G3700 [G5695] shall see G4992 the salvation G2316 of God.

7 G3767 Then G3004 [G5707] said G3793 he to the crowd G1607 [G5740] that came forth G907 [G5683] to be baptized G5259 by G846 him, G1081 O generation G2191 of vipers, G5101 who G5263 [G5656] hath plainly showed G5213 you G5343 [G5629] to flee G575 from G3709 the wrath G3195 [G5723] to come?

11 G611 [G5679] He answereth G1161 and G3004 [G5719] saith G846 to them, G2192 [G5723] He that hath G1417 two G5509 coats, G3330 [G5628] let him impart G2192 [G5723] to him that hath G3361 none; G2532 and G2192 [G5723] he that hath G1033 food, G4160 [G5720] let him do G3668 likewise.

12 G1161 Then G2064 [G5627] came G2532 also G5057 tax collectors G907 [G5683] to be baptized, G2532 and G2036 [G5627] said G4314 to G846 him, G1320 Teacher, G5101 what G4160 [G5692] shall we do?

13 G1161 And G2036 [G5627] he said G4314 to G846 them, G4238 [G5719] Exact G3367 no G4119 more G3844 than G1299 [G5772] that which is appointed G5213 you.

14 G1161 And G4754 [G5734] the soldiers G2532 likewise G1905 [G5707] asked G846 him, G3004 [G5723] saying, G2532 And G5101 what G2249 shall we G4160 [G5692] do? G2532 And G2036 [G5627] he said G4314 to G846 them, G1286 [G5661] Thoroughly shake G3367 no man, G3366 neither G4811 [G5661] accuse any falsely; G2532 and G714 [G5744] be satisfied G5216 with your G3800 rations.

15 G1161 And G3588 as the G2992 people G4328 [G5723] were in expectation, G2532 and G3956 all men G1260 [G5740] mused G1722 in G3588 G846 their G2588 hearts G4012 concerning G3588 G2491 John, G3379 0 whether G846 he G1498 [G5751] may be G3588 the G5547 Anointed, G3379 or not;

16 G2491 John G611 [G5662] answered, G3004 [G5723] saying G537 to them all, G1473 I G3303 indeed G907 [G5719] baptize G5209 you G5204 in water; G1161 but G2478 one stronger than G3450 I G2064 [G5736] cometh, G2438 the latchet G3739 G846 of whose G5266 shoes G1510 [G5748] I am G3756 not G2425 competent G3089 [G5658] to loose: G846 he G907 [G5692] shall baptize G5209 you G1722 in G40 the Holy G4151 Spirit G2532 and G4442 in fire:

17 G3739 Whose G4425 fan G1722 is in G846 his G5495 hand, G2532 and G1245 [G5692] he will thoroughly cleanse G846 his G257 floor, G2532 and G4863 [G5692] will gather G4621 the grain G1519 into G846 his G596 barn; G1161 but G892 the chaff G2618 [G5692] he will burn G4442 with fire G762 unquenchable.

18 G2532 G3767 And G4183 0 many G2087 other G4183 G3303 things G3870 [G5723] in his exhortation G2097 [G5710] he announced good news G2992 to the people.

19 G1161 But G2264 Herod G5076 the tetrarch, G1651 [G5746] being reproved G5259 by G846 him G4012 on account of G2266 Herodias G846 his G80 brother G5376 Philip's G1135 wife, G2532 and G4012 for G3956 all G4190 the evils G3739 which G2264 Herod G4160 [G5656] had done,

20 G4369 [G5656] Added G2532 yet G5124 this G1909 above G3956 all, G2532 that G2623 [G5656] he shut up G2491 John G1722 in G5438 prison.
